Apparently, it is possible to put a man on the moon, but it is not humanly possible to evaluate teachers.
I have actually heard this said with my very own ears-that it is impossible to evaluate teachers by ANY (did you hear that...ANY) objective criteria.
Just as liberal journalists do not believe they have any human or political bias (they are the only humans on the planet who are 100% "objective"), so too are teachers exempt from objective performance criteria. It just doesn't exist! Not humanly possible!

Chris Selley Gets It Right and Wrong on Free Speech
He has written a piece today that I mostly agree with-that there are too many whiners complaining to various governmental and quasi-governmental bodies and private businesses to try to get people to just shut up.
I agree that the solution to the problem of people trying to quash free speech is political.
The only solution is political. (I'm looking at you Prime Minister Stephen Harper and your majority government.)
But here's the problem-the conclusion:
"The answer is not to cede the power to punish speech to anyone, because it will always come back to bite people you like. The answer is to hold politicians’ feet to the fire on democratic abuses as much if you happen to like them or their party as if you don’t — if you have their vote, they have your ear — because those abuses, too, will come back to bite you some day. Thankfully, in Canada, the erosion of democracy and free speech hasn’t yet seriously impacted our quality of life. But history shows us nothing good down the path we’re on."
Actually, the erosion of democracy and free speech has already impacted a lot of lives here in Canada.
People are scared to criticize certain people in public for fear of lawsuits.
People are scared to make jokes about things that are-you know-FUNNY-because they are worried about someone complaining to a Human Rights Commission about them, or ruining their business, or destroying their professional reputation.
People are scared to talk about their politics, about religion, for fear of offending others.
And plenty of Canadian bloggers, newspapers, magazines and individual writers and private business owners have been sued and/or taken to Human Rights Commissions-and have been financially and spiritually ruined by litigious career assholes, members of the Church of the Perpetually and Exquisitely Aggrieved and Offended and their various cheerleaders. Some have fought back, some have retreated. Some have won their battles.
And of course it won't stop at that. It will be sermons, songs, public school curricula-OH WHOOPS-been there, done that.
The real "folly" is that liberty inclined Canadians can't put a stop to it.
Section 13 died, but the war against free speech in Canada continues.

Behold: Canadian university students cannot locate Italy, identify the ocean off of Canada's east coast or locate Africa on a map.
They have graduated from high school and have gained entrance into university without knowing these most elementary geographical facts.
Why do public educators, our moral and intellectual superiors, hate facts with such a passion?
Why? Because facts are MEAN. Facts are HATEFUL.
All that counts are FEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELINGS and SELF-ESTEEM.
We're screwed.

Angels Among Us
A mystery doctor.
Perhaps an angel? Who is to say?
Something similar happened to a friend of mine as his wife was in labour a number of years ago at a Toronto teaching hospital.
The nurses didn't believe that the baby was ready to be born. She kept insisting "it's time".
Anyway-all the nurses disappeared, and they were calling for help and some doctor-a female, just happened to be walking by and walked into the room and delivered the baby, and eased the cord from around the baby's neck. She told them she wasn't an OB/GYN from the department, and then disappeared after she cut the umbilical cord. The nurses came in a few minutes after the mystery doctor left.
They never found out who she was. The nurses didn't recognize her by their description.
If it weren't for her, their baby could have been strangled by the umbilical cord. Still a mystery all these years later.

From the Prophet Mark Steyn PBUH-The Veil Descends
This is Mark Steyn at his best-not shying away from the tough topics, never afraid to discuss the Islamo-Elephant In The Room.
The Veil Descends
Steyn's essays generally make me laugh and smirk and ponder the future of Western civilization (hint: WE'RE DOOMED), but this is the first time (and I have been reading his stuff for a looooooong time) that I teared up. The thought of the little boy missing the Teddy Bears' Picnic is so poignant, it's really heartbreaking.
The demographic experiment in Europe is a failure for the Western world.
Where the Iron Curtain once descended on Europe, but was destroyed by Western resolve-the same case cannot be made to describe any resistance to the Iron Veil descending on the European continent.
And as Peggy Noonan noted in her fantastic book about Ronald Reagan, the Berlin Wall did not "fall"-it was felled by an extraordinary troika: Reagan, The Pope and Margaret Thatcher.
There is nobody shouting the requisite: TAKE OFF THAT VEIL.
I don't want to give away any of the content of Steyn's essay here, you have to read the whole thing because the phrasing is very poetic and it is better read in your head-the words will wash over you and ring sad, but true.
In a few year's time people will look back and talk about how we should have paid more attention to Mark Steyn.
Shame on all of the liberal Jews-the decadent and despicable liberal extremist Jews who vilify philosemitic, prescient gentiles such as Mark Steyn.
Steyn, like Daniel the Prophet sees the writing on the wall.
But there is no longer writing.
No longer is there מנא ,מנא, תקל, ופרסין Mene, Mene, Tekel u-Pharsin.
If you listen closely, it's the distant sound of the Adhan, its eastern quarter tones and mesmerizing repetition.
So you need not ask for whom the minaret tolls.
It tolls for you.

"The black family survived centuries of slavery and generations of Jim Crow, but it has disintegrated in the wake of the liberals' expansion of the welfare state. Most black children grew up in homes with two parents during all that time but most grow up with only one parent today."
"Liberals have pushed affirmative action, supposedly for the benefit of blacks and other minorities. But two recent factual studies show that affirmative action in college admissions has led to black students with every qualification for success being artificially turned into failures by being mismatched with colleges for the sake of racial body count."
See what happened in Toronto when these types waft up up to their highest level of incompetence.
I'm sure this person was assured by his liberal colleagues that everything would be fine.
They are no doubt, dropping him like a hot potato and going on to grooming the next affirmative action poster child. The humiliation is thorough and devastating. He probably trusted the people who groomed him and offered soothing words. They will no doubt lionize him, and if G-d forbid, he harmed himself they would weep after.
These liberal fantatics are very dangerous.
