A Stunningly Beautiful Essay From Commentary: Why Grief Can Exist Alongside Hope
This is absolutely beautiful.
This essay is one of the reasons why I write.

And when I say "adore' what I actually mean is: HE GETS IT, HE REALLY, REALLY GETS IT.
And please understand I also mean it in a very dignified, ladylike totally mature, very sensible and cerebral type of way, totally intellectual and whatnot.
Not that kind of adulating, teenage girl type of fangirl, Steynfrau hysterical Beatlemania type of way.

I realize there is something odd about me being (in Steyn parlance) an excitable, surburban, Jewish femme d’un certain âge whilst Steyn talks about antisemitism, but perhaps it's not so odd because it is gratifying that he understands the matter so intuitively and deeply and never shies away from talking about the reality of the situation.
He also realizes that what starts with the Jews does not end with the Jews. There is an existential threat in Jew-hatred to entire civilized societies.
