Obama and the "Three D's": Failing

Good one from Noah Pollack at Commentary.

Of course he's failing-duh, he's an antisemite.

If you really would like to get completely depressed about 'global' Jew-hatred, then read the book I am reading by Jonah Goldhagen "The Devil That Never Dies".

It's really good and characterizes antisemitism as a religion. I've always thought of it as a mental illness, but it surely is a combination of both.

He also describes the new, globalized antisemitism in the context of history. Lots of interesting food for thought in this book and its well worth your time.

The Search to Remember: "He Wanted to Be True to History"

Wonderful essay from Tablet.

"It was about 40 years ago, and Bernadette O’Connell was 11 and watching the television program Hogan’s Heroes with her brother in the family’s Potomac, Maryland, home, when their grandfather, Pinckney Glasgow McElwee, went ballistic."

“‘This is not the way it was,’” O’Connell, 52, remembered him screaming. “‘I can’t believe they’re making a comedy about concentration camps.’”

“He was shaking out of control,” O’Connell said. “It was very impressive, because he never spoke about it.”

"By “it,” O’Connell meant McElwee’s service in WWII. A colonel in the Judge Advocate General’s Corps, he served in the Seventh U.S. Army and was there when the Americans liberated the Nazis’ concentration camp at Dachau, Germany, on April 29, 1945."

"Her grandfather never spoke about his service, but he did take pictures."

The Western World and Its No Good, Terrible Day For Free Speech

Good grief.

It is so very hard to remain optimistic given recent developments on the free speech front.

It's extremely discouraging to plow through the news and once again, come to the conclusion that the Western world is chock full of spineless, pathetic eunuchs who are afraid of their own dhimmified shadows.

Why, you might ask, am I feeling so terribly discouraged?

Let me count the ways:

Britain's moron Labour party vows to ban "Islamophobia".

"Shut up, they explained," says the great Instapundit of the call to deny Geert Wilders a visa to enter the United States.

Totalitarian cowards.

They can only bully with their bureaucratic might because their ideas are worthless and disgusting and they cannot win the battle of ideas.

Meanwhile, back in Eurabia, did you know denial was a river in France?

France, where even the brave Charlie Hedbo cartoonists, with their comrades' blood still staining their office walls and floors, decide that Mohammad cartoons are now "uninteresting".

And this, this made my blood boil:

Idiot liberal Jew Irwin Cotler wants to criminalize hate speech. Again, another cowardly social justice engineer who cannot win a battle of ideas, and can only force people to censor their thoughts. Shame on this radical fool.

What is it with these evil Jews who refuse to learn the lessons of history?

Oh right: IT'S THE LIBERALISM, STUPID.

Everything: facts, history, and Jewish tradition, Jewish history and Jewish smarts, everything, including the well-being of their own kin, is secondary to The Liberalism. What a shameful, pathetic man.

Fortunately, there are at least a few Britons who have refused the demand to cut their own nuts off and commit suicide.

As I say, a tough time to remain optimistic but not impossible.

So, does that mean it's time to throw in the towel?

Hell no!

Never, ever, ever, give up.

I Like the Cut of Robert Downey Jr.'s Jib

This is awesome.

He simply has no time for that horrid British "bottom feeding muckraker" who he calls a "syphilitic parasite".

Mr. Downey is just getting better and better with age.

Perfectly Normal, Red-Blooded Heterosexual American Male Doubles Down on Red Dress Comment

This is glorious.

Bwahahahahaha!

Via Instapundit, who diagnosis it as 'troll level as Grandmaster'-which, in itself, is a super gargantuan, extra awesomely fantastico characterization of this sequence of events.

I'm dying!

London, Ontario Voters: Vote For Dr. Kyla

Why?

Because elections have consequences.

One of the first things that I taught my children about politics is that government has no money.

The only money a government has it what it takes from working individuals.  Government then redistributes your money on things that you may or may not agree with.

I'm very proud that they understand this completely.

Smartest President EVER, EVAH EVAH Thanks Japan For Karate, Karaoke and Emojis

Is there an emoji for banging my head against the keyboard?

This man is a pathetic insult to the office he holds.

He is a contemptuous, disgusting, evil, haughty, immature and loathsome man.

The Apology is Always Worse Than the "Crime"

The gayhad claims another victim.

Remember "liberal" is the primary religion and motivating factor.

Everything else is incidental.

The grovelling apology and walk back is always more sickening than any alleged "crime". I'm more disgusted by the walk back than the bullying, frankly.

My Latest For The Rebel Media: Three Days in Israel

So, by now you may or may not have seen me mention Ezra Levant (et al) and The Rebel.

It's a great site and a really exciting start-up.

The newest part of the roll-out is a section called The Megaphone.

It's the blog section of the site.

I hope you'll check out my first piece and the really great stuff written by the other bloggers as well.

Mine is about Israel (mostly).

I asked my editor if he had any direction beyond me being my usual smartass, Jewy self and he said that ought to work, so have a read and I hope you'll enjoy.

"My First Time Guarding a Dead Body": A Hauntingly Beautiful Essay From Tablet Magazine

This is a beautiful, reverential essay from Elizabeth Savage via Tablet Magazine.

It gives a window into one of the very dignified Jewish traditions regarding death.

Read the whole thing.

There is a whole category of Jewish practice that is called 'chessed shel emet'. It's sort of hard to translate but it's basically the purest form of good deed.

Guarding the dead (and indeed, preparing the dead for burial) is one of those acts of chessed because the dead person cannot return the kindness to you. It's done just for the purpose of goodness and G-dliness and holiness.

Baltimore Mayor Should Be Fired and Criminally Prosecuted For Maximum Stupidity Allowable in Public Office

"Baltimore mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake made a stunning admission Saturday in the aftermath of violent protests over the recent death of Freddie Gray, saying she wanted to give space to those “who wished to destroy.”

America is screwed.

Michael Ondaatje: Schmuck

Six writers have pulled out of the Pansy PEN Gala because Charlie Hedbo is being honoured.

Having a festive gala dinner is the least courageous thing on the planet that writers can do to mark the massacre. It's even more pathetic than a hashtag.

For six writers to object to their silly and globally impotent organization marking the slaughter (in such a meek and token way anyway) is truly reprehensible.

By the way, Associated Press sucks dog balls.

"Much of the literary community rallied behind Charlie Hebdo after the shootings, but some have expressed unhappiness with its scathing cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad and other Muslims."

Why do all these media castratti insist upon capitalizing the "p" in prophet?

It's the ABC's of dhimmification, quite literally.

The extreme deference is reflected in that specific capital letter, it is another subtle and pathetic nod to cowardice.

Raised Well

This guy.

This is called good breeding. It has nothing to do with money. It has everything to do with parenting.

"Mr Trousedale, a college student who works part-time as a stock assistant at the supermarket, told the Bolton News that he did not consider his actions extraordinary, and that he had been brought up to respect his elders."

"He said: 'I asked my manager if it was OK to walk him home and he said that was the right thing to do, so I did."

"We had a good chat about everything from the General Election to the history of Horwich - he knew lots about everything."

'"It is very strange because this is just something I would normally do, my parents have raised me to treat other people like you want to be treated yourself,' he said."

The fact that this wonderful, "normal" action is rendered extraordinary is a dismal reflection of the era.

A Walk Among the Ghosts at Bergen-Belsen

I believe that one thing that drives antisemites crazy is the Jewish love of life, its reverential treatment of human life and the view that life, and the creation of life is the closest that man gets to G-dliness.

Thus even amidst the hell of the camps, even in the largest Jewish graveyard on the planet, there was life.

"The 2,000 babies born at the Bergen-Belsen DP camp represent an astoundingly high birthrate, a resurgence of the life force that the Nazis had sought to extinguish."

Can this be said of any other people?

An excellent article.  Do read the whole thing.

I Miss Dubya

A flawed but very great man.

A leader.

"Just remember the guy who slit Danny Pearl’s throat is in Gitmo, and now they're doing it on TV," he said of the way ISIS is beheading victims with relative impunity under Obama's watch."

"Bush added that Obama lacked a plan of action in fulfilling his stated mission to "degrade and destroy" ISIS."

"In order to be an effective president...when you say something you have to mean it,” Bush said."

“You gotta kill 'em.”

"The ex-president then spoke about several other subjects, starting with Russian President Vladimir Putin who he noted is rich, divorced, and loves power. He said Putin's popularity in Russia is due to his media control, saying "hell, I'd be popular, too, if I owned NBC News."

The Decline of the West

That the West is in decline is not a question.

The question is: can it recover?

President Obama has done a motherlode of damage to the West, and it's pretty heartbreaking. He has tried to damage Israel equally but us stubborn, damned uppity Jews just are not plain listening to his orders to keel over and JUST DIE ALREADY.

Some points to consider:

Why Muslims are the world's fastest-growing religious group.

(Hint: it's the demographics, stupid. Otherwise known as "Mark Steyn tried to warn you...")

And unfortunately, the moderates stand alone.

Beware the blue-eyed medics among you.

Americans are too busy worrying about transgendered washrooms (the new frontier now that gay marriage is a fait accompli).

Britain is pretty much OVER.

Read this article very carefully and don't say you weren't warned.

"Britain is existing in a period similar to the decades before the fall of the Roman Republic where social tensions were rife, the gap between the rich and poor was increasing and extremism was growing."

"And when added to a growing distaste for military action, which has seen huge cuts the armed forces, by the end of the century the UK will no longer have the power, or will, to protect itself against a serious invading force, he predicts."

“There are certainly parallels between 100BC in the Roman Republic where things are starting to get pretty dodgy,” he said.

“It was a time when democracy was moving towards despotism, and in Britain we now see that politics is becoming much more about individuals rather than political parties. It’s about personalities. The two party system has started to break down.

“We live in a golden age where there have been no major wars in Europe for three quarters of a century. But the economy is stagnating and we’re having fewer children."

“And once European countries can no longer defend themselves, the end of national independence cannot be long delayed.”

American "leaders" are too busy getting rich off "charity".

And to add insult to injury, my truly idiot people are just starting to notice that we are once again, descending into hell.

What kind of hell? Oh, you know, this kind.

And when I say "my idiot people" I include the completely and utterly contemptible individuals in Israel-in the IDF who do this kind of thing, FOR SHAME.

Where are the brave?

Some are riding skateboards in Kabul.

Mostly, people are mute, and while things fall apart because the centre cannot hold, while voices cried from the snow in Nepal, while the Middle East descends further into chaos, while the existential threat to Israel grows and while Baltimore burned, Israel started sending aid to Nepal while the alleged leader of the free world was making crappy jokes to his even more revolting audience of Court Eunuchs with worn out knee pads.

I am therefore not feeling very optimistic right now.

The Miracle of the "Mengele" Babies

If you ever feel like you are having a craptacular day, guess what, you're not.

Some people lived through real hell.

A must read.

Mark Steyn Is Terribly Unimpressed With Solipsistic Non-Binary Grievance-Mongers and Pusillanimous Sharia Appeasers

Have I mentioned lately that I adore Mark Steyn?

Have I mentioned lately that I adore when Mark Steyn whispers sweet nothings in my ear WHOOPS OH DEAR HOW EMBARRASSING SORRY LET'S TRY THAT AGAIN...RIGHT...TAKE TWO:

That is to say, (musters dignity, breathes in and out)...When Mark Steyn mentions me, en passant, in his brilliant essays?

"As Laura Rosen Cohen likes to say, "security" is the new "shut up". A couple more years of this and we'll all be so "secure" no one will say a word. The pathetic capitulation of Queen's reminds us of just how rare and principled was the behavior of the Aussie Foreign Minister Julie Bishop in her visit to Charlie Hebdo on Tuesday. As that Guardian report continues:
Robert McLiam Wilson, the Paris-based author of Ripley Bogle and Eureka Street, described the cancellation of the event in the face of an unspecified security threat as "not cowardice or surrender. It is part of a long defeat in an unfought war."
McLiam Wilson, who writes for the French satirical magazine, said he could not believe that a city like Belfast that had endured decades of violence would call off the conference.
Speaking from his home in Paris, the author, who was born in west Belfast, said: "I am feeling a touch of shame today. Cancelling such an event in the face of putative menace in a city that endured a 30-year torture of self-immolation seems worse than pusillanimous. Belfast? Seriously? This is not the city I remember. This cancellation says, with trumpeting clarity, that there is no debate because there can be no debate. There is a big boat that can't be rocked."

More from Steyn's weekly Hugh Hewitt appearance here.

Attack of the Leftist Snowflakes and Climate Change Cultists (LAST CHANCE!!! AIYEEEE!!!)

Well done.

"Many human beings, apparently, never quite get over an innate totalitarian impulse. Power is an intoxicant, and shutting down and banishing an opponent—along with any cognitive dissonance they might cause — might be the power equivalent of chugging six beers. But what can we make of the growing campus fetish for “safe spaces”? Like it or not, the world is not a cocoon. How could such cowardice possibly be any fun?

The Import of Honour Murders to North America

Has Jordan exported anything positive to the New World?

Or, like Pakistan, just this type of thing?

"A Jordanian immigrant bent on revenge over his daughter's marriage to a Christian killed the female Iranian activist who persuaded her to go through with the marriage, Texas prosecutors allege."

"According to charges filed on Wednesday in Houston against Ali Awad Mahmoud Irsan, he then killed his despised son-in-law about ten months later."

"The Harris County District Attorney's Office revealed Irsan is charged with capital murder in the 2012 shooting deaths of Gelerah Bagherzadeh, 30, and his 28-year-old son-in-law Coty Beavers."

Steyn: When Charlie Met Julie, Featuring Strange Jewish Mother From Canada

So I started my morning with Mark Steyn!

Err...that is to say, Mark Steyn cited my little Suha Arafat bit in his latest post.

"~Laura Rosen Cohen writes:
HRC was a prize speaker for Jews till she kissed Suha Arafat. OMG, can you imagine kissing someone who had kissed Arafat?!? GAH.
In fairness, I don't think Suha kissed Yasser that often. If you know what I mean."

And just for the record, "if you know what I mean" means: OMG I LOVE THAT ROSEN CHICK.

Sorry-WHOOOOOOOPS. LET'S TRY THAT AGAIN SILLY ME. SORRY IS IT HOT IN HERE????

Take two:

OMG, Mark I totally know what you mean. Arafat was gayer than the VIP section at a Lady Gaga concert.

Israel Marks Memorial Day

Last week was Holocaust remembrance day in Israel, and today it's Memorial Day, which immediately blends into Israeli Independence Day at sunset.

I'll post more stories of the soldiers and civilians killed throughout the years as the day goes on. I find these days emotionally and intellectually exhausting. Naftali Bennet said last week that he finds these days just as important as 'official' Jewish holidays (the religious ones) and I have to agree. They are a profoundly Jewish and Israeli way of remembering, living and also for the bereaved families, living while partially dead inside.

Here's a brief article, with more to come throughout the day. Each story is more difficult to read than the next, so I have to pace myself as I read them and consider which ones to share.

"Madonna Is Doing Sexy Wrong"

Exactly.

"The truth of the matter is, juvenile sexy just doesn’t work when you’re old—not because you’re not sexy anymore, but because you have a mature sexiness. And not only that, your sexiness is just one dimension of your character. Your beauty is so much more. You have other advantages, and you don’t have to rely on the batting eyes, the tight skirts, or, as in Madonna’s case, the random creepy kisses—and whatever else she’s willing to do—to exercise power or to express yourself."

HRC was a prize speaker for Jews till she kissed Suha Arafat. OMG, can you imagine kissing someone who had kissed Arafat?!? GAH.

I knew the G-d of Israel was all powerful but this?!?! JOOOOOOOS!!

Must Read: Wisconsin Becomes American Police State

"...Wisconsin, the cradle of the progressive movement and home of the “Wisconsin idea” — the marriage of state governments and state universities to govern through technocratic reform — was giving birth to a new progressive idea, the use of law enforcement as a political instrument, as a weapon to attempt to undo election results, shame opponents, and ruin lives."

"Most Americans have never heard of these raids, or of the lengthy criminal investigations of Wisconsin conservatives. For good reason. Bound by comprehensive secrecy orders, conservatives were left to suffer in silence as leaks ruined their reputations, as neighbors, looking through windows and dismayed at the massive police presence, the lights shining down on targets’ homes, wondered, no doubt, What on earth did that family do?"

"This was the on-the-ground reality of the so-called John Doe investigations, expansive and secret criminal proceedings that directly targeted Wisconsin residents because of their relationship to Scott Walker, their support for Act 10, and their advocacy of conservative reform."

Why Arabs Distrust Obama (Duh!)

Interesting.

But the conclusion: "in the vain hope of turning Iran into a friend, Obama may end up transforming some of America’s oldest allies into adversaries," has already been accomplished.  It's not a "may", it's a done deal.

I believe that was his express mission.

That is the "transformation" of America that President Obama spoke of with such gusto.
