Spring Break!

Thanks, as always, for visiting my blog and reading my stuff.

There are lots of Passover preparations going on now, and lots of real time, real life obligations to meet so blogging will be on hold for a while.

My Idiot People: No, Migrants Are Not the New Jews Edition

Another idiot liberal extremist who just happened to have been born Jewish.

Pathetic.

Mark Steyn: Expression, Identity, and the Corruption of the Academy

A really great new interview!

My main takeaway obviously, is that right-wing men are hotter than lefty soy boys.

DUH!

OK I did learn other things-mostly how sometimes the cause chooses you, that more often than not, the question isn't 'what do I want out of life' but 'what does this life want from me'.

These two are brave individuals who tell the truth.

The whole conversation is interesting, but I most like the clarion cry for talking to people civilly and having conversations.

I for one, do not like to listen to monologues or to lecture others.

I like having actual conversations, engaging in dialogue and an actual exchange of ideas. That's why Free Speech is the whole kit and caboodle.

We need to be able to discuss ideas in a civil fashion, even when (and especially when) our feelings are hurt and we disagree. We need to be unafraid to speak out, speak up and to tell the truth and to tell the jokes that keep us human.

For example, these people are clearly Jew-haters, subverting Jewish images, and Holocaust victims for their pathological antisemitism. But I wouldn't ban them, and I wouldn't ban their stupid, Jew-hating, psychopathic campaign.

I would prefer to either defeat them in the marketplace of ideas and if they are not capable of civil debate, then just walk away and say (a la Breitbart) "So?" and not let these intellectual gnats live rent-free in my head.

No subject should be off bounds.

The very minute someone or some government bureaucrat says that something is "off limits" ("settled") or illegal for discussion, we begin a descent into totalitarianism.

As Mark Steyn has said previously, pay very close attention to the people telling you to shut up because they rule the roost.

And the bigger the Shut Up, the bigger the threat to liberty.

Rabbi Jonathan Sacks on "Vocation" and "Your Calling"

I was profoundly moved by this podcast, which is on the Torah portion of "Vayikra", which means to be called.

Listen to the whole thing and/or read it.

It's one of his best, and that's saying a lot because pretty much every week's commentary is filled with gems.

Anyone who has struggled with their calling, or wondered what their calling was, or even why they are doing certain things, or what their calling in fact is, will find something meaningful in this essay.

Jordan Peterson in Australia: Political Correctness is Hurting Young Men

Very interesting, listen to the whole conversation.

Things That Make Jew-Haters Sad

The Jewish love of life makes Jew-haters sad and mad.

Again, I'll ask, what other nation dances with their holy books?

What other nation treats their holy books as a bride, or as a previous child, raised up in exaltation?

What other nation rescues their holy books from fire, from the ashes of the Holocaust to be used again?

I really get all verklempt at this stuff, especially as I get older.

If you are Jewish, you probably get what I mean. But even if you are a philosemitic non-Jew who has seen Jews dance with their Torahs, or raise up the Torah at a synagogue service, you'll know what I mean.

Israel's Hottest Pop Stars Get American Record Deal

This is great.

Static and Ben-El are really fun and have their pulse on pop.

One you start singing these songs you CAN NEVER STOP.

One funny thing is the translations on the videos. When they says "she does Dawin", that makes utterly no sense in English. Do 'do Dawin' in Hebrew is kind of like being a poseur, putting on airs, faking greatness, etc..

There's a lot of other slang that needs to be translated, but whatevzzzzzzzz.

Enjoy.

The Great Kurt Schlicter: "Woke Conservatives And the Awesome Power of Not Caring"

This is so great.

I wish I could literally hug this column.

I'd hug Kurt also, but then I could get accused of being a stalker or something.

I've read this twice already and I'm going in for a third round as well.

I love every word of this.

Barbara Kay on the Disgusting Bill M-103

In case you didn't know, or didn't notice: M-103 Is basically a blasphemy bill in and for modern Canada.

This is definitely a bill against free speech and meant to criminalize discussion and criticism of Islam.

Read the whole thing.

The Telford Girls: The Wrong Kind of Victims

This is a must read.

A very astute piece about being the 'wrong' kind of victim and the 'right' kind of perp.

Evil, evil stuff.

Hillary Clinton: Bitter, Rich Looooooooooser

Here's an excellent summary of her non-accomplishments.

She's also utterly obtuse. Even the Washington Post has bailed on her:

"Hillary Clinton takes her 'deplorables' argument out for another spin."

What. A. Dummy.

Please, just take up knitting or something instead of showing up in public everywhere and making things worse for your awful self. Go away!

Post Twitter Gulag Post!

Hi, yes, I was in Twitter Gulag and yes I got out right after Shabbat.

Thanks for stopping by my blog!

I had to delete 2 tweets to get back into Twitter but you know whatevzzzzzzzzz.

Anyway, has been a very busy time for me personally but I have some stuff to share so keep an eye on the blog.

Thanks to Mark Steyn, PBUH for the incredibly magnanimous shout out (TWICE, SO NICE) on Rush Limbaugh earlier today.

Belgium Kills Mother's Day

Belgium!

YOU SUCK.

Seriously, I am getting tired of this "FOR THE CHILDREN" schtick.

This is another attack on the traditional family couched in IF ONLY ONE CHILD FEEEEEELZZZ BAD talk.

Terrible.

Finally Some Good News: Good, Christian Couple Who Refused to Lie to Children Win A Round Against Revolting Government Bullies

I remember when this happened and it is simply outrageous that bureaucrats have such an extraordinary ability to destroy good people's lives.

Most often, there is an inverse and perverse relationship between the bureaucrat's intelligence and their power and by this I mean, the less intelligent they are, the more power they yield to pummel and cudgel.

Capricious doesn't even begin to describe this.

This Christian couple was subjected to truly wicked and disgusting behaviour and I'm glad they won a round.

"Digging Up the Past in a Jewish Cemetery"

This story is specifically about a Jewish cemetery in Poland, but it's the same all over Europe and actually in the Muslim world as well.

In many of these places, not even the dead can respectfully rest in peace.

Antisemitism is a disease of the human spirit and soul.

Communication is a Human Right

I couldn't agree more.

This is a really beautiful, heartbreaking and heartwarming story from the CBC.

Well worth your time and consideration.

Just because you can't speak, doesn't mean you don't have something to say.

From My "DUH" File....

France finally admits that this was antisemitic.

Thanks, France.

Mark Steyn Likes Curvy Moms and Tuckered Out Nights!

OH WHOOPS!!!

Oh, that's so embarrassing.

OH DEAR....I really screwed up that headline.

I have no idea how I could have gotten that wrong but is it hot in here?

ANYONE? ANYONE?? BEULER??

It is hot in here, yes? I mean it's not just me, the suburban Jewish Zionist Mom CURVY MOM described above.

Anyhoo, where were we? So strange, cannot remember what we were discussing.

Exhaustive nights, Mark Steyn....someone refresh my memory? What on earth were we talking about?

RIGHT RIGHT, updates!

As of late, some of the usual suspects have noticed some cryptic SigInt beaming out at high frequency from Steyn HQ in rural NH!!!!

These beams of SigInt are coupled with a strangely festive champagne motif banner on Mr. Steyn's web site, but that's all we've got.

DAMMNIT STEYN WHAT DO YOU THINK MY BLOG IS, BLETCHLEY PARK?????

I am just one, lone, suburban Jewish Zionist mom codebreaker.

Channeling the spirit of Ronald Reagan I say:

"Mr. Steyn! Throw. Us. A. Bone!"

I've never been known for my bashfulness, so what the heck:

THROW US A FEW.

thankyouverymuch

*waves*

Now, in all seriousness, for real and not for joking obviously, this Steyn post is called "Curvy Morns and Tucker Nights", referring to Mr. Steyn himself taking his rightful place on the curvy couch in New York City and then guest hosting the Tucker Carlson Show on FOX.

But this was recently spotted on the internet and us unwashed masses of deplorables in flyover country are trying to figure out what it means.

I do hope it means good news for Steyn and company, if you out there, dear reader, are a legal beagle and have any insight, feel free to shoot me a line.

What. A. Knockout.

Seriously, she is a babe with excellent taste and a superb stylist.

LOVE.

The UK Is Dead To Me

Dead.

Hope You Had a Nice Purim!

So, yah most Jewish holidays really are "they attacked us, we won, let's eat".

Purim of course is no exception. As I sit here at my computer, I am nursing a cup of tea and a little Purim cookie and I'm just really happy.

I love Purim. There are a number of obligations that one must fulfill on Purim.

One must hear the Megilah (The Book of Esther) twice. Not read-hear. You have to hear it read aloud.

One must give little food packages to friends, and best through an intermediary (I tend to use slave labour-one of the kids).

One must give charity and have a festive meal.

I spent a few hours giving out little packages and it was a very interesting feeling to know that not only am I personally carrying on a tradition, I am instilling memories of how to do the tradition into my kids. I was consciously creating future memories. Does that make sense?

Our meal was delicious if I do say so myself.

And there are more festivities coming, it's a very busy time.

I came across this lovely article called "My Hamentaschen Challenge" and it's so beautiful I had to share it with you.

There's a very Jewish Old Country accent and cadence that one hears less and less nowadays. It's how native Yiddish speakers speak English and wow do I ever miss hearing my grandparents speak this way.

Anyway, when I read this loving article, it also reminded me of them. And this paragraph kind of knocked my socks off, just full of love, like a good piece of personal writing should be.

Read the whole thing. Just lovely.

"My mother-in-law complained about everyone’s baking except her own. Her most damning insult, delivered in a dramatic stage whisper, was to accuse someone of “baking on margarine!” It took me a long time to figure out what she meant by this. Did her baking adversary just grease the pans with margarine, or did it actually go into the dough? Even between South Jersey and the Bronx, there was sometimes a language barrier. My mother-in-law made a party, she never threw it, and when she did, she always baked on butter. With me, civility had to be maintained, even when she had something to say about my baking. “What these oatmeal muffins need is zip. When I want zip, I add some cinnamon.” I bit my tongue and decided I hated cinnamon. So what was I thinking, now, with the cinnamon?
