Egyptian Democracy in Action
And when I say "action", I mean one way action-another hapless female Western journalist, this time a French chick, on the receiving end of a lot of Egyptian man-love action. Thirty on one actually.
That's a lot of action!
Funny though, the Associated Press doesn't see it right now as sexual assault. Ho hum:
"It was the latest case of violence against women at the epicenter of Egypt's restive protests."
The "restive" action sounds a little terrifying to me:
"The crowd surged in and then it went crazy. It was basically me keeping her in a bear hug, both arms around her and face-to-face," he told The Associated Press, estimating that at least 30 men were involved."
"It was hard to tell who was helping and who was groping her."

Benghazi: Americans Died, Obama Lied and the Media Complied
A pretty nice summary here.
And by nice, I mean that I want to bang my head against my keyboard because it is so accurate and so painfully pathetic.
"Benghazi, the White House cover-up and an enabling media offer a microcosm for the whole Obama presidency. His economic policies have been wasteful and counterproductive; doing more to buttress cronyism than bring recovery. His social policies radically depart from traditional American values. Obama’s foreign policy is in shambles. Allies no longer trust us. Enemies no longer fear us."

Is there something not incredibly disturbing about a President who cannot think through the words that are required when discussing his fellow, murdered countrymen?
The detachment is so cold, kind of monstrous actually.
Pat Smith, the bereaved mother of Sean Smith, who was murdered in Behghazi, isn't very happy with the President's choice of words.
"My son is not very optimal - he is also very dead."
When citizens are murdered in terrorist attacks, people look to their leader for guidance and comfort, for words of prayer, for solace. The President has called those murdered 'folks' and referred to the murdered Ambassador as "Chris", claimed that these murders are 'bumps on the road' and now, that having dead Americans to deal with is "not optimal".
I was thinking back to the terrorist attack in Naharayim, Israel when Israeli school girls were murdered on a field trip by a Jordanian terrorist. Now, King Hussein was not exactly a huge, gushing fan of Jews, although he did have some good contacts with Jews and some very important shared strategic considerations with Israel.
However, when those girls were murdered, he made a trip to Israel and paid condolence visits to the grieving families. He sat on the floor with the Jewish families, as per Jewish tradition, and offered his condolences. That was quite extraordinary.
The President of the United States of America has Air Force One at his disposal all the time. Amidst the campaigning, amidst the dinners and the Hollywood fundraisers, would it not have been possible to make four trips to four grieving families? Not to face an inquisition, but to say-those citizens, those fellow Americans meant something to me and to our country.
They were not bumps on the road.
They were optimal human beings at the prime of their lives.
"My son is not very optimal - he is also very dead."
Leaders need to be there and say: we mourn with you. We can't possibly know your pain, but we are here with you.
Leaders lead the way to the grieving family, they don't run away from the broken families.
One comforting hug for each mother and father.
For each sibling, to give them strength.
For the grandparents.
For the children.
Clearly, empathy is beyond President Obama's capability.
How sad. And how chilling.

Barry Rubin: Obama's Flimsy Excuses About the Middle East
"While of course we should acknowledge that the United States had only so
much influence over the Middle East during Obama’s term, that does not change the fact that it did have considerable influence. And it was largely used in the service of extremists, not moderates, America’s enemies and not America’s friends."
Speaking of the Middle East, here's a more encouraging voice for the region.
I disagree with Shimon Peres on just about everything, but being vocal about calling for the overthrow of the Ayatollah regime in Iran is a good thing. Unfortunately, with the current administration in the White House-Iranian democrats, young people, women and students will once again be thrown to the wolves. They should probably wait until November!
Iran needs, in America, a Reagan equivalent, or at least "Reagan-ish" in order to achieve anything that even remotely resembles democracy.

A public school teacher in Virginia has been charged with assault, and apparently has a repeat history of trying to indoctrinate her students in Islamic teachings.
I thought the Toronto District School Board was bad enough, but assault coupled with religious indoctrination is certainly much worse.

I'm So Tired of Bullying
There has been a lot of talk in the media lately about bullying, especially online bullying.
Everyone has an opinion and of course I have one, too.
My opinion is that kids have to be taught to be tough and not break down when someone calls them names or is cruel to them. I think that these discussions have to be at the dinner table and parents have to take an active role in helping children develop the confidence-not the "self-esteem" to deal with bullies. The other issue is that some children have mental health issues that are completely exacerbated by bullying. That's a whole other ball game.
Additionally, there are some activities that are criminal assaults, or criminal harassment-and those matters should be taken care of by the police-if only they would do their job.
I have been called plenty of fantastic names in my time and won't crumble.
I don't want to be legislated into a zombie like silence "for the children".
The whole anti-bullying movement is a whining, emasculated house of cards. When kids actually do ask for help, it often turns into a blame the victim situation. The bullied child is encouraged to move to another school because nobody has the guts to deal with the bully for fear of ruining the bully's self-esteem.
The anti-bullying movement (actually, it is bordering on a cult nowadays) is useless, and is just thinly veiled camouflage for belligerent activists to try to control other people's behaviour, and ram utopian fantasies about us all getting along, down our throats.
There have always been humans who behave badly and those who prey on children. That will never change.
There are no social contstrains on any kind of anti-social behaviour anymore. There are no public rebukes to anyone who behaves publicly in an inappropriate way. Personal modesty and public propriety are old-fashioned relics for most of the Western world. This is the world that the permissive left has created.
That genie can't be rammed back into the bottle. So instead of admitting a colossal mistake and having a return to more public decorum, or shaming bad behaviour, we are once again told that "if only" we listen to our betters, the world will be a happy place and bullying will be a thing of the past.
People are bullied all the time. The only time any governmental force should be involved is when criminal activity has taken place.
Being an asshole cannot be a criminal offense in a democracy.
