Today in Jewish History: Janusz Korczak's Birthday

"July 22 1878 (or 1879) is the birthdate of Janusz Korczak, the Polish-Jewish pediatrician, educator and writer, who was deported to Treblinka together with the residents and staff of the Warsaw orphanage he directed in August 1942. Korczak is largely remembered today for having turned down several opportunities to be spared deportation and insisting on accompanying his children to the end, but his lasting contribution was as a theorist and innovator in child development. His work remains relevant and studied to this day."

Best Story of the Day: A Ceremony Beyond Words

I cannot offer any comment that would do this article justice.

G-d bless Chabad for making this happen.

A double Bar Mitzvah for two very special boys.

The joy and blessings in this story just hop off the page and into your heart.

Asparagus Not in Water is Like Totally Racist or Something in Missouri

And now lawyers are involved!

Who was so exquisitely offended by the racist asparagus. Let's check:

"According to Stephen Deere, David Olander, a local resident who serves on the city’s human relations commission, noticed the asparagus was not sitting in any water while shopping in May."
“It was just sitting there dried out,” he said.
"Olander asked an assistant manager if the quality of the asparagus had any relationship to the store’s location in a black neighborhood."
But don't worry, his motives were PURE!
"Olander, who reportedly saw fresh asparagus sitting in water just a few miles away, admitted being in a foul mood when he visited the store and said he "just felt like stirring it up a little bit, letting them know that somebody cares.”

Churches Seek to Help Rebuilt Detroit

Amen to that.

Can I get a witness??????

The only thing that can help Detroit in its total and utter rebuilt is a complete renunciation of the RELIGION OF LIBERALISM and a return to Judeo Christian values and morals.

Fathers raising their children and marrying the mothers of their children. Children staying in school. Teachers teaching. People going to Church regularly.

The most horrendous corruption in Detroit was not the fiscal: it was the corruption of the soul.

Without a return to individual responsibility, without a commitment to individual liberty, Detroit cannot heal.

Liberals look at every problem from a financial angle. "If only" enough money is thrown at something, it will be fixed. Or another way to look at it through a liberal prism-here's the logic: by throwing money at something, that shows we care. Why? Because extremist liberals have no real G-d. So their G-d is money, or other false idol.

Detroit is your city on liberalism. A repudiation of the Church of Liberalism must be undertaken before any fiscal fixes can possibly be made.

New York Food Stamps Turn Into Foreign Aid

NYC Medical Examiner Official Took 9/11 Plane Wreckage For Coffee Table

If this is true, it is one of the sickest things I've read in a while.

It's vile and despicable.

Helen Thomas is Dead, Continued

So I ululated yesterday.

Ed Driscoll has a few thoughts here.

And then there is Robert Stacy McCain with some Entirely Random Observations About Etiquette and Dead Jew Haters

(WINNING!!)

And my reply:

For Sale: American Ambassadorships-CHEAP, BARGAIN RATES!

Jeez.

A few million bucks for an ambassadorship seems like a really great deal.

Compared to the TRILLIONS of dollars that American debt is measured in, a few million bucks for already rich people is totally chump change.

Bon Voyage, fundraisers and bundlers.

Pro tip: Avoid Libyan posts no matter how cheap.

French "Veil Incident"

Probably nothing.

The government has urged police to respect Muslims.

Everything is cool.

Mark Steyn to Detroit: Call Me Never!

Mark Steyn responds to Detroit's exquisite, Democrat sensitivities about their one-party, bloated, union- led and ruined city by apologizing for hurting their feelings GIVING THEM SECOND HELPINGS.

Bwahahahaha!

First read The Downfall of Detroit.

Then backtrack and read the history.

One more here.

I was in Detroit a few years ago on business, and we overshot the Canadian border exit. It wasn't marked and the roads were crumbling and we didn't have a GPS.

So we reluctantly had to find somewhere to ask for directions to the border. Have you ever been on that stretch of highway? It's sort of like Beirut in America, or Mogadishu.

Anyway, us two white gals found a gas station. I was driving, so I drove the rental car RIGHT TO THE DOOR OF THE GAS STATION. I was scared to park there. I was scared to go in. I told my colleague to keep the doors locked and keep her head down.

When we got to the Canadian side of the border, and got to Windsor, I damned well felt like kissing the ground. Imagine me, the big Jew practically belting out a Hail Mary. You get the idea.

The Windsor airport does not have a restaurant or bar. My colleague and I were still shaking from the experience on the flight and both had to have a drink on the plane to settle down from the car experience.

Barack Obama: It's All About Me, Always, Forever, And Ever Infinity & Eleventy!!!!

Travyon Martin could have been me!!

Except that I was the affirmative action poster child, and had a white Mom. Except that I got all kinds of groovy funding for my Ivy League education, and everyone kept pushing and wafting me upwards to my highest level of incompetence.

He totally could have been me except that I have never, ever lived in Florida and even though I smoked drugs, I was in the Choom Gang, we luckily didn't have social media then. He totally could have been me except that I grew up in Hawaii and my white grandparents totally took care of me because my Dad took off and my Mom was so flaky.

I COULD BE ANYONE. I AM YOU!

I AM YOUR KIDS.

ALL ABOUT ME ME ME!!!

WSJ: The Militarization of Everyday Life and Things in America

"A number of federal agencies also now have their own SWAT teams, including the Fish & Wildlife Service, NASA and the Department of the Interior. In 2011, the Department of Education's SWAT team bungled a raid on a woman who was initially reported to be under investigation for not paying her student loans, though the agency later said she was suspected of defrauding the federal student loan program."
"The details of the case aside, the story generated headlines because of the revelation that the Department of Education had such a unit. None of these federal departments has responded to my requests for information about why they consider such high-powered military-style teams necessary."
"The past decade also has seen an alarming degree of mission creep for U.S. SWAT teams. When the craze for poker kicked into high gear, a number of police departments responded by deploying SWAT teams to raid games in garages, basements and VFW halls where illegal gambling was suspected. According to news reports and conversations with poker organizations, there have been dozens of these raids, in cities such as Baltimore, Charleston, S.C., and Dallas."
Read this entire article. It's frightening.

What could possibly be wrong with that?

Australia Blocks All Asylum Seekers Arriving By Boat

This is a very smart move from Down Under.

"Our country has had enough of people-smugglers exploiting asylum-seekers and seeing them drown on the high seas..."From now on, any asylum-seeker who arrives in Australia by boat will have no chance of being settled in Australia as a refugee..."

Nicely played, Australia.

Orgasmic Press Corps Greets Dear Leader

Hey Rest of America-Detroit is Your Problem Too

Listen carefully, my American friends.

"If Detroit defaults on its general obligation bonds, governments everywhere — but especially in Michigan — may end up paying more to borrow money, as the bond market responds to the precedent set by a major city returning pennies on the dollar to investors. When a state’s largest city goes bankrupt, it creates an increased risk for all the governments around it — including the state itself."
