Jonathan Kay: How 9/11 Killed Canadians' Appetite for Human Rights Speech Codes

An excellent summary of the death of Section 13.

Really a great read.

The whole article makes me happy (except for the part about Doug Saunder's silly book and thesis), but I have to say one of my favourite parts is the cut line on the nice picture of Mark Steyn.

(The picture of Ezra sucks, I wonder if that was on purpose?)

I'm posting the conclusion here because I like it so much:

"But the power of these commissions plainly has crested, thanks to the army of Canadian pundits, activists and bloggers who are ready to pounce on every fresh, new censorious outrage. In this small, indirect way, Canada’s human-rights industry was one of the casualties of 9/11."

Hey-I resemble that remark!!
