Here's another-my mom was the President of the Elvis Presley Fan Club in Toronto.
She was interviewed on CHUM radio and that was a pretty big deal back then.
I have a soft spot for Elvis. Pity about all the excess, and the drugs and booze because he really was a talent. In a strange turn of events, the song "Hound Dog" was one of the first songs that made my special needs son really laugh and smile. He loved to hear me sing it a la Elvis over and over and over again.
I also think his Fools Rush In is beautiful.
The other soft spot I have for Elvis is because he was apparently a very polite and sweet Shabbos goy.
