America and the Blown Out Birthday Candles

America the beautiful, Happy Birthday.

A few thoughts on this July 4th.

It seems to me that America is being dragged down in every direction by a feckless, reckless "leadership" determined to permanently squelch its military and economic prowess.

I heard on the radio this morning that America currently has the smallest number of navy vessels at sea since 1916 (this according to John Bolton). We have an American administration that feels that American strength and power is not only provocative but completely undesirable and worthy of contempt.

The latest Supreme Court boondoggle on health care is a fiasco with multi-trillion dollar consequences. When did we start counting debt in trillions?

Does anyone else think it is moderately symbolic that America's capital went dark this week? That the world centre of power is without power-still after five days?

How can this be?

How can we explain that at the epicentre of power, there is-in fact-no power.

It was bad enough to think that the White House was a house where the "lights were on but there's nobody home". Now, it's a house of government where there are no lights on, and nobody's home.

On the "bright" side, as noted by Rush Limbaugh, via SDA: imagine how much worse it could have been with things being more "green" than now.

John Bolton explained on AM 640 this morning with John Oakley that this power outage is largely because local tree-huggers have made it impossible for utility companies to bury cables-thinking that underground cables harm trees. So therefore, electric cables are above ground in the greater Washington, D.C area, which not only means that they are downed by storms on a regular basis, but that the trees they are ostensibly trying to protect regularly get downed as well. This leads to big, non-pruned trees with live wires falling all over residential and business areas.

Humans be damned. Foods shall rot, people shall wilt and die, pets will suffer, business will lose money, the economy will burn and in addition to it all, the trees will fall.

This is the path of "best intentions".

I am worried about a Washington, D.C with the lights out.

I hope America rebounds and that Americans reject the current liberal, nanny-state, big government, entitlement culture "malaise" that is infecting every aspect of their lives.

"Lights out" is not an acceptable American proposition for the majority of Americans.

Pray the light of liberty overcomes.
