Question of the Day

Does "trying hard" count?

Does having tried "real hard" count for anything when you are the President of the United States?

Don't accomplishments actually matter anymore? Or have we raised a generation or two that has been fed the idea that all that counts is that 'you tried your best'.

Of course it's important to try your best.

But if you fail, should you be told that all that matters is that you tried your best?

Or should you acknowledge that failing something is nothing to be proud of, but nothing that shames you for life.  Failing at something also doesn't preclude success at the very same task at a later point, or success with a different challenge or once more hours and hours of practice have been made on the first.

What if your best was not good enough?

Isn't that sometimes the case?
