I am reading Theodore Dalrymple's "Life at the Bottom".
OMG that man is brilliant.
Just brilliant. It explains, quite clearly-how the UK declined. Of course the same thing is happening in America right now.
Interestingly-he compares the white underclass of Britain to the black underclass of America. Very thought provoking.
The good doctor comes up with the Dx. It is a spiritual, not material crisis that is sinking the West. I completely agree of course.
The book is totally depressing because it is so accurate. But every sentence and paragraph is so well written, with so much insight packed into it that's it's impossible to put down!
I highly recommend it to those who want a very short lesson on how the UK got COMPLETELY SCREWED.
It's fantastic stuff. My kind of gloomtastic take on human nature!!
