Steyn: Michael E. Mann Repudiates His Own Hockey Stick

I'm delighted to see this update from Mark Steyn and very happy that he is still in full fighting form.

I read the whole update, and in a "fair" world, Steyn's own research and public posts would be sufficient to have the case dismissed on grounds of being completely ludicrous. However, we do not live in a "fair" world and often "justice" is not served.

More often than not, as Steyn has noted (and lived through), the process is the punishment.

So, if you have a chance, do read through this update and also the accompanying documents.

Now, I'm not a lawyer and I'm clearly not very bright. I am just some totally random, Zionist, Jewish, hatemongering, "bully-blogger" mother SteynFrau that dabbles in writing and whatnot HOWEVER, I believe that this case is actually not about libel.

I've always felt that it was about Big Climate silencing dissent on matters of "climate" because of the extraordinary amounts of money involved in such lifestyles/industries/academic research/government regulations.

And it's not just about the money, although the money is a big thing, it's about the power. Lots of money and the ability to completely control the economies of the first world through increasingly invasive, illiberal and nonsensical regulations that impinge on personal freedom and liberty in the guise of saving the planet.

But what do I know?

Anyway, upon review, I must confess that I found the page numbered 45 in the court document to be the actual big reveal of this entire case (it appears as page 57 on the PDF).

It seems like the real issue is actually-and perhaps unwittingly set out right here but you're free to disagree.

Steyn is essentially being accused of having damaged Big Climate and Big Climate is not very happy about it.

He is being accused of furthering a 'political agenda' by dissenting on global warming, but what if the reverse is actually true-that it's Big Climate that is using its 'political agenda' to stifle dissent and keep the industry chugging along in perpetuity.

Steyn damaged the brand and that is an unforgivable sin, for which he is being deeply financially, professionally, and psychologically attacked with the legal process.

Or perhaps I'm completely off-base.

Like I said, I'm not very bright but what if this is really the issue. Imagine that.
