Otherwise know as Our Lady of Fallopian Church?
I joke, I joke.
This is a serious issue and this is a good column by David Harsanyi.
Been thinking a lot actually about the 43 Catholic organizations and institutions that are preparing a lawsuit against the Obama administration. I know a lot of people are cheering it on, and I think that it's better to do something than nothing.
But I can't help thinking that some of this reaction seems like morning after the great night before regret. That is to say, that a lot of Catholic Americans cast their votes for Obama for a myriad of reasons. It's hard to be sympathetic to the charge being led by the University of Notre Dame, when they so blindly cheered on Obama not that long ago, and featured him as a commencement speaker.
I guess they were so romanced and so dazzled by his charm that they decided to overlook his clear anti-life position.
This is not an event that can be erased from the historical record.
Unfortunately, it seems to me to be another example of bad judgement on the part of the Church.
Why defer to charming evil?
Obama's positions on abortion were simply radical and evil. Why honour that? Why elevate that?
The only thing that religious institutions can do now is play catch-up and try to stuff this anti-life, "progressive", genie back into the bottle.
It's a bit late to be organizing coalitions.
Claiming 'we didn't know' has never been a very good explanation for turning a blind eye to evil.
