It's Mother's Day. Being a mother is the best thing in my entire life. Creating a life inside you is the closest that people come to having G-d like powers. Being a parent is a blessing.
My son's teacher called me on Friday and left me a message, giving me a heads up about the very special crafts they had been working on all week for Mother's Day.
They helped him once again, using a computer program, pick words and wishes for a letter to Mom.
It has pictures representing certain phrases and concepts alongside the words.
He uses a sophisticated augmentive communication system (a device, pictures and signs) because he is non-verbal.
My letter says:
Dear Mom,
Happy Mother's Day! You are such a good mother.
You always help me.
I like it when you read with me.
You look pretty all the time.
I wish I could give you all the chocolate in the world!
Love from your son,
Love,
(his name here)
There is a banner with little hands at each end and a jewelry box shaped like a heart with ribbons all over. A beautiful start to the day.
