Educators
Your moral superiors. With superior judgement!
Graphic oral and anal sex descriptions for grade five students-hey, what could possibly be wrong with that. From the principal of the school!
This is actually called: GROOMING.
"The Pannkuk and Gilliland families said they knew something was wrong when the daughters came home from school. They were quiet and withdrawn."
“You could tell she was embarrassed,” Jean Pannkuk told Fox News Radio. “She didn’t want to have to repeat what had been said. It was really sad to see her struggle with feeling like she was responsible.”
"Pannkuk and her husband sat their daughter down and asked her explain what she was taught in the class.
“You take a man’s penis and you put it in your mouth – that’s what the girls do to the boys,” their daughter told the couple. “The boys spread the girls legs apart and put their mouths down on the vaginas.”
"Pannkuk said he became enraged as his 11-year-old daughter recounted what the principal had told the classroom."
Note:
."...Superintendent Scott Fenter defended the principal’s action to local media and said that the lesson did not go too far."
Remember-this is sexual grooming:
More from Barbara Kay.
More from Texas-another way of dealing with sexual predators.

Heartache!
Mourning the loss of Section 13...boo hoo!
Funny how no mention is made of the Sockpuppets demand of Maclean's magazine that their opinion be published in the magazine, with a cover story, if I recall correctly.
Boo hoo:
"With Section 13 gone, we are left with only the Criminal Code, which provides for up to two years in jail for spreading hate against identifiable groups"
That piece of the Criminal Code is stupid and archaic as well.
Why not hate?
I hate some things-so what? We are a society of overgrown babies if we send people to jail for hating other people and "spreading" hate.
Like Kathy says: we need more hate. People are not honest about their feelings. It's human to like and dislike things, people, places, ideas, smells, foods. We're not robots.
I will fight any and all attempts to legislate my thoughts. I reserve the right to hate.

Math is Hard and Disappointing
Interesting stats posted at Jihad Watch-stats that totally deflate the myth of "Islamophobia" in Canada.
However, in my opinion, the real story is that in a country of almost 35,000,000 there are less than 200 episodes of 'religiously motivated hate crimes'.
Anyway, like I always say-what's the deal about "hate crimes"??
What about the "love" crimes?? Aren't all crimes "crimes" by default?
Crime is crime.

Why the Education Bubble Will Be Worse Than the Housing Bubble, And Bonus Europe is Screwed
Just read this on Instapundit-a great find that explains the impending implosion of the higher education bubble in America.
(Don't get me started on all of the useless degrees that North Americans have nowadays..I can't handle the stress...)
Here is the part that explains it in the most succinct way possible:
"And the price of a college education soared—just as one would expect from a market flooded with cheap money. By law, lenders cannot even deny Stafford and Perkins loans (types of federal student loans) based on the borrower's credit or employment status. What other reason is there to deny a loan?"
"And just as home buyers took out loans to speculate on houses they could never hope to afford, students are taking out loans to cover educations they often cannot complete and which often do not hold value in the market even when completed."
"Government meddling has again separated profit from risk."
"Universities get to keep the tuition profits while taxpayers are forced to shoulder the risk of students not paying back their loans Once again government has created the conditions for wholesale failure, and failure is upon us."
"From 1976 to 2010, the prices of all commodities rose 280 percent. The price of homes rose 400 percent. Private education? A whopping 1,000 percent."
This is an absolute economic disaster for America-and when this baby burst-it's going to be even messier than the housing bubble mess.
I cannot understand how little attention this is getting in the American media, and even on the presidential campaign trail.
Facts and economic reality can only be ignored for so long.
Europe is the current example of brainless, ostrich-like financial ruin.
Money can actually run out. Look at Greece.
Take a peek at Italy.
Printing more money actually doesn't work.(Duh!)
More unbelievably obtuse plans from the EU.
Just turn your heads away...
Also: Here's How the Euro Will End
""The euro zone is in a crisis, in the correct sense of the word, a turning point from which it will either recover or enter a terminal phase. One important factor that may determine the outcome is the degree of leadership in Europe."
"By and large, political leaders in Europe are a feckless lot. There are exceptions, particularly in some of the Nordic countries (e.g., Estonia), but the absence of leadership may be the decisive factor leading to the euro's demise. In Spain and elsewhere, leaders have been willing to apply temporary fixes to their banking problems rather than to recognize the true size of the problem. The banks, not fiscal deficits, will be the undoing of the euro."
"In the end, I side with Milton Friedman. If Europe had made the political decision for a federal state, a single currency would have been a natural outcome. When 17 states decided to adopt the euro first without political union, they got it backward."
Lastly: Amazingly smart Canadian David Warren:
"The Terrible End of Europe's Nanny State"-read the whole thing.
"...two things are necessary, if we are to pull out of our “structural” death spiral. Both are unspeakably painful. One is to discover some sovereign bankruptcy mechanism, by which our grandchildren may disown their grandparents’ debts. And the other is to dismantle the Nanny State. It really doesn’t matter in which order these are done. And since neither can be done, I foresee terrible disorder."

So Sleeeeeepy
If you are not falling asleep at the keyboard like I am, here is a good article for you to read about Dear Leader Obama.
I read the whole thing and it has some very interesting observations about the man and the many myths, and the moments of epiphany-like the "composite" friends and girlfriends that are pure fiction.
Wish I could stay up later, but I'm fading.

What Happens When A City Goes Bankrupt?
Detroit in ruins.
I've said before that I cannot imagine that there is enough money to rebuild the entire crumbling infrastructure of downtown Detroit. But even if there was-the American spirit (individual responsibility, liberty and self-determination) has been so crushed by the Democratic regime that it may make a "recovery" all but impossible.

I Only Report The News
I spend quite a number of hours on a weekly basis trying to keep the size of my butt, and the rest of my body at bay-exercising regularly, eating right. I don't want to look like a pear as I get older.
So, this kind of thing...well...what can I say???
People actually PAY money to make their butts massive and inject themselves with poison to look like this.
Is it happy hour yet?
My head hurts.
Actually, I think I am feeling phantom pain in my butt just looking at these pictures of "Vanity Wonder".

Lovely.
What's in the water in NY nowadays?
What's the deal with all the idiotic "minority studies" programs?
Why can people get an academic degree in navel gazing?

Totally awesome must see episode of The Source.
Ezra is too modest, and doesn't take any credit for taking down Section 13-which he should.
Most excellent show and achievement.

Bernie Farber: In a Tizzy
I can't say it better than Kathy and Scaramouche.
Scaramouche follows Bernie on Twitter. I don't have the stomach or the patience for that.
But it is weird. Check out this Tweet.
Apparently, Nazis are rejoicing all over Canada!
I'm thinking either Bernie just called the people he disagrees with Nazis, or there is some kind of wild and crazy Nazi party going on at some secret location somewhere in the heart of Red Neck Whiteyville, Canada and I didn't get the memo-or the invitation.
(I'm really fun at parties-my Mom and Dad tell me so...)
Where are the legions of "rejoicing Nazis"?
Can I see the evidence-the photos?
The photo in the HuffPo link that Kathy posted-the one that links to Stormfront-has a picture of the dozen or so weenie-brains who demonstrated in Calgary last year. Unfortunately for Bernie et all, the counter-protestors outnumbered the "neo-Nazis" quite significantly (16 or so "white supremacists" and about 200 counter-protestors).
Apparently, there were 16 dorks at that event,
(The Canadian Press/Globe & Mail article is off-line, but I found some Flickr photos.)
Jews suck at genocide, and clearly, Canadians suck at White Supremacist movements.
But just keep fighting those old battles if it makes you feel good about yourself, rejoice ye Nazis, rejoice, etc..

Nothing to see here, carry on, toodle-loo, private sector "doing fine"....
"The net worth of the American family has fallen to its lowest level in two decades, according to government data released Monday, driven by a more than 40 percent drop in their stakes in their homes. The Federal Reserve’s detailed survey of consumer finances showed families’ median wealth plunged from $126,400 in 2007 to $77,300 in 2010 — a 39 percent decline."

It can't be Obama's fault: he went to Harvard!
Ack-FUNNAY!
"The economy is “unexpectedly” sliding yet again, as the network anchors always say, but it’s not Barack’s fault. It can’t be. He went to Harvard. It’s all caused by those “headwinds” from Europe, that’s what Jim Cramer blamed it on this week. And before that it was the warm winter, or the Japanese tsunami, and don’t forget the early Easter, or was it the late Easter and, and ... George Bush!"
"Doesn’t anyone remember Bush’s jobless recovery — when unemployment was 4.5 percent? Now 3 million citizens have vanished from the workforce and unemployment is 8.2 percent. It’s the new normal."
Very sharp. Love that line above.

Gah!
"Doing fine"-the new America-is-kaput!
Watch this video of David Axelrod furiously avoiding the question "is it fine, yes or no".
This is his most pathetic appearance ever. (Is he wearing eyeliner, by the way??)
See what you think. I almost feel sorry for him.

Margaret Wente: Plastic Bags
The New Puritan Cause!
"A plastic-bag ban does, however, accomplish many other fine and noble things. It makes us feel good about ourselves. Like recycling, it enforces virtuous behaviour (or so we’d like to think). It is the modern equivalent of declaring ourselves a nuclear-free zone, only better, because it requires deeds as well as declarations. Also, it sets a good example for the less enlightened members of society, who don’t always understand what’s best for them or for the planet."

I guess if it was "Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall, and decided that he was a girl after all, and went to get his nose pierced before participating in a riot, after taking some meth, and then take Gender Studies while living in his parent's house until he was 32, and then talking to dead ancestral spirits at Stonehenge about sex-assignment surgery before studying for the civil service exams and getting a council house before going to an ashram in India and getting a reality show..."
It would be OK.

Warren Kinsella Spews Hate on the Internet!
Scaramouche found this irony-challenged column this morning.
Kinsella writes: "Nigger. Faggot. Paki. Chink."
He also uses "kike".
I actually couldn't care less if someone calls me "kike" on the Internet, and I'd like it even better if they did it to my face. Because kike-hate has little to do with Jews, it's more about the rotted-soul fools who are delivering this message (see: oldest hatred).
I like the fact that I can see Jew-hate up close and personal, rather than a country-club style "oh some of my best friends are Jews, and I don't hate Jews I just hate Israel" kind of thing.
Kinsella says that "haters" who are happy about the elimination of Section 13 just don't know what they are talking about because they have obviously never suffered a "web attack".
I'm not really sure what a "web attack" is but it sounds pretty dorky.
This part is really freaky-deaky:
"What I favour is citizen-based advocacy, with no human rights commissions or Criminal Code provisions being necessary at all. Make it easier for identifiable groups to sue for defamation; that is the best way for a society to express itself. "
That is actually an astonishing assertion.
The best way for a society to express itself is to sue one another for defamation.
Is that really the kind of society that you want to live in? Kinsella's verison of the best society is "identifiable" groups suing each others asses ad infinitum!
That should freak people out.
Kinsella instructs us:
"Close your eyes and imagine for a moment you are a Jew, and your upset kids announce they’ve received e-mails covered in swastikas and “DEATH TO THE JEWS.”
OK. I did that.
ZZZZZZZZZZ now what? Is that a "web attack"? So boring.
People actually did that in downtown Toronto not that long ago, and nothing happened except that Kathy Shaidle got called a racist. The police, and the Canadian Jewish Congress did nothing.
For more on Kinsella's censorship fetish, please refer to Mark Steyn: Gagging Us Softly.

Detroit-A Real American Dump
"The city fathers of Detroit inherited one of the richest and most productive cities in the world, and they ruined it in a generation. The
gentlemen in Washington have been entrusted with the richest and most
productive nation in the history of the world, and the trendline does
not look good. Those of us seeking to radically reduce the footprint of
government must remind ourselves from time to time that our case is as
much ethical as economic, that the ethical and the economic are indeed
closely intertwined."
The downtown is haunted, the peripheral regions ridden with crime, infrastructure crumbling and the American spirit is broken by over-dependence on government courtesy of the corrupt unions and the soul-corrupting Democratic party.

Mocking the American Justice System Through Lawfare
Lawfare is everywhere nowadays.
"...it seems painfully clear that defense counsel are participating in a subversive form of lawfare, mocking the American legal system in order to demonstrate their clients' belief that the court holds no legitimate power over them, alleged mass murderers of innocent American citizens. The 9/11 terrorists have already declared war on our values; now they show their disdain for our sense of fairness, justice, and equality before the law, with the help of their attorneys."
What is it really about?
"They're engaging in jihad in a courtroom," said Debra Burlingame, sister of the pilot of the plane that struck the Pentagon.

The Great Caroline Glick!
*Fawning, girl-crush alert!!*
Caroline Glick is one of my favourite political writers. She is feisty, smart, a fearless Zionist and she delivers excellent public lecturers as well as being a pleasure to read.
Here is her call to action on Jewish Alinskyites!
"Saul Alinsky, the godfather of subversive radical political action, had a very clear strategy for undermining and destroying his enemies: Infiltrate, divide and destroy."
Love this battle cry:
"The Alinsky strategy is brilliant in its cunning mendacity. And his followers in the American Jewish community and Israel have already succeeded in causing great harm. The stakes are high in both countries. The time has come for the majority of American Jews and Israelis to stop being cowed and confused by their destructive manipulations."
(It would be awesome to hear some concrete suggestions as to how we can do this, perhaps a future column? I am not sure that many of these folks can be deprogrammed...)

I cannot stop laughing about this piece.
Normally, I don't find British humour funny AT ALL.
But this-I have been laughing about it for hours. Literally.
I just have to read the words "Woo, the Queen yay woo, according to lots of people" and I start have a complete giggle fit.
Sometimes a bunch of words just makes you slap silly stupid.
This is one such bunch.

Steyn on Obama
I'm dying here..
I hereby dub Fridays:
Fresh Steyn Fridays!
Read it all!
"Why, in a typical week, you'll find him at a fundraiser at George Clooney's home in Los Angeles with Barbra Streisand and Salma Hayek. These are people who are in touch with the needs of ordinary Americans because they have played ordinary Americans in several of their movies. And then only four days later the president was in New York for a fundraiser hosted by Ricky Martin, the only man on the planet whose evolution on gayness took longer than Obama's."
(*snort*)
And on the fawning celebrity masses and their cheesy adoration of Dear Leader:
"If you're wondering who Anna Wintour is, boy, what a schlub you are: She's renowned throughout the fashion world for her scary bangs. I'm referring to her hair, not to the last sound Osama bin Laden heard as the bullet headed toward his eye socket on the personal orders of the president, in case you've forgotten."

What's the matter with the choice? Muslim Brotherhood AND 9/11 conspiracist?
No biggie...nothing to see here.
Not much further away from sanity than "Dr." Mahmoud Abbas-Glorious Dear Leader of the Palestinian Authority who got his PhD in Holocaust denial from Commie U, Mother Russia.
Exit question: So-how's that Egyptian democracy working out for ya?

It's All Greek to Me...
An good look into the Greek mindset:
Nikos Dimou: "I'm always trying to explain to my fellow Greeks why it can't possibly be in their interest that we lose the euro. Much like a psychoanalyst, I advise the Greek patient to take a very rational look at things this time."
"SPIEGEL: And how long will your psychoanalytical treatment take?
Nikos Dimou: "That depends on the patient. If he responds in a typically Greek way, he won't even show up for the second therapy session."

Good Riddance to Section 13
This is a great day for free speech in Canada, and a testimony to Ezra Levant's and Mark Steyn's incredibly tenacious and downright inspiring and exhaustive fight for liberty here in Canada.
Gawd-I really hate to be a downer-but I'm not cracking open a bottle of sparkling Manechewitz just yet.
Here's the news: Section 13, the idiotic "hate speech" law in Canada has gone into the dustbin of history.
But, as Jon Kay of the National Post points out:
"The battle against human-rights speech codes is far from won: The worst cases of censorship, such as the muzzling of Christians who proselytize texts that contain anti-gay themes, occur at the provincial level. Yet the tide clearly has turned: The Canadian Human Rights Commission received only three hate speech complaints since 2009, two of which were dismissed. And at the provincial level, bureaucrats know that any censorious verdict they deliver instantly will be pounced upon by Mr. Levant and his blogging allies (including some at this newspaper), and thereby become a lightning rod for legislative reform."
I'd like to think I'm a part of the "blogging allies".
I think it means Kathy Shaidle, Arnie at Blazing Cat Fur, and scaramouche, Kate at Small Dead Animals, SassyWire, Eye on A Crazy Planet and a bunch of others, including me.
Kathy posted on this story earlier today-apparently some of Canada's socialist elite are still not very happy about their censorship powers being curtailed.
And Mark Steyn, who was so vigorously and ridiculously persecuted by the humorless Canadian Human Rights Commissars for years, also weighs in:
"It’s been a long, slow process, but the victories have been real. Section 13 of the Canadian “Human Rights” Code has as a practical matter been rendered unenforceable. It’s now about to be removed from the law formally."
To the socialist mourning the loss of censorship powers, he helpfully suggests:
"Clear off, you twerp." (So polite!)
I think the real victory will be when all of the various taxpayer-funded provincial and federal human rightsorganizations monstrosities are finally dismantled.
They are an insult to liberty, a festering sore on the body democratic and a drain on the purse of regular working Canadians who deserve not to have their taxes wasted on malicious persecution of their fellow citizens on the grounds of hurt feelings and perceived, exquisitely sensitive feelings of offense.
The de facto victories were won in the court of public opinion, led by Ezra Levant (supported generously by the public) and Mark Steyn (supported by Rogers/Maclean's magazine).
Other "allied bloggers" have taken hits in the pocket book, have been sued and have suffered professionally, socially and emotionally for lending their words and support to the cause.
We are seeing the de jure change, but it's really moot.
It is highly unlikely, actually pretty much impossible-that any individual or organization will ever, ever be able to pull off a publicly-funded lawfare/SLAPP type of human rights complaint /stunt again like the one that was pulled on Mark Steyn, or Ezra Levant.
But this is not the time to rest on our free speech laurels because there is still much work to be done.
The entire "human rights" apparatus in Canada must be destroyed-never to be rebuilt again.
Without free speech, we are not free.
If we can't say what we want, and think and write what we want-we are not a free people.
Tyranny takes many forms.
Its modern incarnation is an attempted moratorium on freedom of expression, speech and thought and the companion public shaming, vilification and intellectual dissembling of those with opinions that may differ from the mainstream consensus-led by the political extreme left.
This must be fought at every level, with the tools that each of us has at our disposal by doing what we can, every day.
So, K.P.O, my free speech companions!
K.P.O!

The Real "War on Women" By Thomas Sowell
Have I mentioned lately how much I love Thomas Sowell?
(Yes, I have-I know, whateverskiiiiiis...)
Must read: The Real War on Women
"If you are looking for a real war on women, you might look at the practice of aborting girl babies after an ultrasound picture shows that they are girls. These abortions are the most basic kind of discrimination, and their consequences have already been demonstrated in countries like China and India, where sexually discriminatory abortions and female infanticide have produced an imbalance in the number of adult males and females."
"A bill to outlaw sexually and racially discriminatory abortions has been opposed and defeated by House Democrats."
I read somewhere (haven't seen the movie yet) that Sacha Baron Cohen has a line in his new movie where he asks a pregnant lady something like: Are you having a boy, or an abortion?
Gendercide-that's what it is.

Patriotic or Disrespectful?
I saw this article yesterday and have been thinking about it.
Do you think that it is patriotic or disrespectful?
I think flags have a special status, and should be respected. For the most part, I think that Americans are much more protective about their flag than Canadians are-and that is a shame. I'm not sure how comfortable I am with a flag being fashioned as religious head gear-no matter what religion and what flag.
Just food for thought.

Mainstream media starting to pick up story of harrassment of conservative bloggers and the SWAT-ing scandal.
This is very, very dangerous stuff. I am really glad that it is getting some mainstream media and political attention before a lethal disaster occurs.

Europe is Screwed, America Not Far Behind
The continental fantasy-musings from the exceptionally eloquent Theodore Dalrymple.
"As it happens, I was once interviewed by one of Le Soir’s best-known journalists, who asked me whether I was in favor of the European project. I said that I would answer if she would tell me what it was. She did not, and we moved on to other subjects. Whatever the European project may be, those who don’t embrace it wholeheartedly—with a fervor that can only be described as mystical, considering that no one can explain or define it in simple terms— are depicted not as skeptics, but as enemies."

Steyn: Give and Take
Otherwise known as Eurabia is doooooooooomed!
"A month ago, a mere 4 percent of European Union citizens lived under left-wing politicians. But, after a three-year flirtation with "austerity," the citizenry has decided that a government big enough to give you everything you want suits them just fine, and they're not gonna give any of it back. Just keep those 14 monthly checks per annum coming (it counts for your government pension, too) until they're dead. If it bankrupts those left behind, who cares? Not my problem."

Putting the "Mental" in Environmental
Eco-fanatics are mentally ill.
Check this out: When Eco-Thugs Come A Knocking....
"On
the afternoon of May 2, two EPA agents, accompanied by a six-foot-six
armed police officer, knocked on Kelly's door. According to Kelly, the
agents "presented very official looking badges and asked if we could sit
and chat awhile. We moved to the back porch and took our seats with the
exception of the armed officer who stood by the door to the house the
entire time."
"Keller
was asked by EPA agent Michael Woods if he had sent an email to an EPA
employee. Initially Keller answered "No," but soon recalled the email to
Gray. Woods then produced a copy of the email and asked if it was the
email Keller sent. Keller answered, "Yes."
According
to Keller, the second agent said Keller's email was very "suspicious"
and could be interpreted in "many different ways."
" Keller
asked the agent to be specific, saying he didn't have anything to
hide."
"He also pointed out that the email clearly revealed all of his
contact information. Irritated, Keller told the agents
"they have bigger fish to fry" than drive across the entire state to
follow up on an un-threatening email. "
"He also reminded them he is a
taxpayer who helps provide their salaries."

The Wussification of Men
Now..."brotox".
UGH.
Terrible. The guy in this video is actually nice looking, slim and has good taste in clothes. His voice and annunciation are a bit metrosexual though, and I think he would look much better if he let the hair go naturally salt and pepper, and grew a little scruff on the face.
Personally, I can't stand that baby's bottom shave that makes grown men look like eleven year old boys.
And that shiny skin? Really not attractive, actually repellant.
Men are lucky in that when they age-they look 'distinguished'. You would never say a woman looks 'distinguished' as she ages. So, men should embrace the masculine thing.
The best way for men to look good as they age is first of all-not to be overweight. I'm not saying muscular, but just not fat.
Also, wear clothes that fit. Make sure hair is cut neatly, beard trimmed, and that other facial hairs are not poking out where they ain't supposed to be and walk tall. If your hair is thinning too much, embrace the bald. The bald is very sexy when done with confidence-but it goes with slim.
I would not look to the woman in this video as an expert on style. She looks caught, unfortunately, in the early 80s-when she was probably more in her prime.
I've gone over women's basics a number of times, so I won't bore you now with that.
Men should be manly.
Women should be feminine.
What is so difficult about that to comprehend?

Cliches
If there is one cliche that I really hate it is the one that is so often quoted by schmaltzy Jews talking about the peace process-they always mangle it, anyway.
It's the one from Golda Meir about how we'll have peace when the Arabs love their kids more than they hate the Jews, or whatever.
It's a totally idiotic quote, because the point is more that the Arab and Muslim world has to abandon their pathological hatred of Israel and Jews, and choose life over the death culture that there MIGHT be some kind of possibility for a cold peace.
It's really got nothing to do with loving their kids. The mothers who send their children off to be suicide bombers believe that they are doing the very best thing for their children-making them human sacrifices and that they get bonus points for murdering as many infidels as possible while they are at it.
This is their expression of maternal love. Clearly, not my cup of sweet tea-but you get the point.
Maybe the expression should now be 'there might be peace when Palestinians choose giving their people clean water over their Judenhaas'.
Evelyn Gordon points out:
"But regardless of what happens to this particular project, the lesson is clear: Faced with a choice between promoting their people’s welfare and harming Israel, both the elected Palestinian government and civil-society leaders unhesitatingly chose the latter. And until Palestinians reverse this order of priorities, peace will continue to be impossible."

Dumbest Article EVER on PJs Lifestyle Section
This is a piece of crap.
Probably the worst and stupidest piece I've ever seen on PJs Media and I have been reading PJs since the old, old, olden days-when Roger Simon started it with the other dude who has made a leftward turn.
You should NEVER lie to your children.
You should tell them the truth, just not necessarily the whole adult truth with all the gory details.
You should tell them the truth-and as much of it as they can handle for their age and their level of development and maturity. If you lie to your children-why should they trust you ever?
Is this piece a joke? If it's meant to be a funny, it's really not.
If it's serious-it's really bloody awful.

Headline News (Not Funny, I Know...)
There are few more permanent ways of solving a domestic dispute than-ohh, say BEHEADING.
A "Berlin man" apparently lopped off his wife's head, which landed in the building's central courtyard.
"According to the Süddeutsche Zeitung, neighbours said the unemployed man suffered from psychological problems [Ed note-HEY REALLY, NO KIDDING?????].
"He is thought to have had another partner living in the same building, with whom he had two children.[Ed note: hmmm, like polygamy?????]"
"His wife [Ed note: number one I guess] wanted to break the marriage off."
Blazing Cat Fur found this little addendum from the German press-I've BOLDED THE NOTABLE PART.

Jeff Jacoby: Smart Jew
The peace process battered Israel's reputation.
Absolutely.
"...in its desperate quest for peace, Israel backed away from each of those red lines."
"With each retreat, it lost respect."
"And all the while it reinforced a false and terrible message: Peace would be possible if only Israel were willing to give up more. The absence of peace, therefore, must be Israel's fault."
"The 19-year disaster of the peace process -- that is what happened to Israel's reputation."
"How can the Jewish state get its good name back? Step 1 is to jettison the policy that has caused it such harm."
NOTHING that Israel (the Jews) do will actually make peace happen. So it's definitely best to cut our losses and negotiate from a position of strength.
By the way-not every problem has a "solution".
I don't believe that at this stage of history, there is a "solution" to the "Middle East" problem.
The problem is the religious conflict between Islam and Judaism, which is represented and fought-by proxy-in Israel.
There is no "solution" to that problem.
The best we can hope for is not a "solution" ("peace treaty") but a cold, begrudging arrangement of limited interaction and increased separation whenever and wherever possible.
But we should always expect and plan for belligerence, sabotage, and anti-Jewish terror of every sort (murder, military, psychological, economical, technological, political, philosophical, artistic and cultural).
Absolutely.

The Lessons of Culture: Roger Kimball
Well worth the read.
So many great nuggets in here-what a great essay.
"Many illusions were challenged on September 11. One illusion concerns the fantasies of academic multiculturalists, so-called. I say “so-called” because what goes under the name of multiculturalism in our colleges and universities today is really a polysyllabic form of mono-culturalism fueled by ideological hatred."
"Genuine multiculturalism involves a great deal of work, beginning, say, with the arduous task of learning other languages, something most of those who call themselves multiculturalists are conspicuously loath to do."
And this observation:
"The hollowness of the left-liberal wisdom about the war brings me to another illusion that was challenged by the events of 9/11. I mean the illusion that the world is basically a benevolent, freedom-loving place, and that if only other people had enough education, safe sex, and access to National Public Radio, they would become pacific celebrants of democracy and tolerance. This is the temptation of utopia—Greek for “nowhere”—and it must be acknowledged that America’s fortunate geographical position in the world has long encouraged certain versions of this temptation."
Righteous, particularly on utopia:
"This favorite liberal pastime has not been abandoned, but it looks increasingly rancid. As the commentator Jonathan Rauch wittily put it shortly after the terrorist attacks, the cause of terrorism is terrorists. September 11 reminded us that with power comes responsibility. Power without resolution is perceived as weakness, and weakness is always dangerously provocative. In the aftermath of September 11, we in the West were often cautioned against exciting Islamic rage. My own feeling is that it is salutary for our allies and our enemies alike to understand that American rage, too, is an unpleasant thing."
I Only Report the News
I have experienced this, so I had the anecdotal evidence, but it's nice to see that my observations confirm something the insiders say about themselves.
I find making chit-chat and small talk with (some) Asians difficult.
You know, like the kind of dorky things that you say in the elevator, or when looking at produce. They seem to lack the kibbitzing gene.
Anyway-see what you think.

Eurabia: A Mixed Bag of Nuts
There are three little words that no Greek ever wants to hear.
They are the three little words that make them furious with rage-that make their ouzo runneth over, inspire plates to get broken on French people's heads and makes the angry Grecian "ohhhpah" get turned up to ELEVENTYYYYYY.
"Pay your taxes."
Meanwhile:
Germans-no joy gene (scientifically proven-not just my obnoxious observation, the science is SETTLED, etc..).
But the irony gene. The delicious irony gene is just freaking oooozing out of their pores.
HAH!

History Chick Alert
We take a break from jihad and the usual snark to bring you this amazing, amazing story-bless his soul.
The unsung prophet of World War Two.
An incredible story of the man who basically wrote the first draft of the OVERLORD plan.
Do they make men like this still today?
Yes they do-but they are mostly also unsung, quiet heroes.

Maureen Dowd breaking up with Obama?
Say it isn't so?!?!
"The president who started off with such dazzle now seems incapable of stimulating either the economy or the voters. His campaign is offering Obama 2012 car magnets for a donation of $10; cat collars reading “I Meow for Michelle” for $12; an Obama grill spatula for $40, and discounted hoodies and T-shirts. How the mighty have fallen."
OUCH!!!!!

OMG!
Is Facebook "wearing a velour tracksuit"?
Could "wearing a velour tracksuit" be the new "jumped the shark"?
I heard that on Mark Zuckerberg's birthday, people were Tweeting "Happy birthday Mark, Facebook is dead, see you on Twitter".
The FB demographic does seem to be shifting, but I don't think it's going MySpace just yet.
If teens are the indication of where social media is moving, or is-then it's texting and Tumblr.
Twitter? Not so much.
NOTE: If I ever, and I mean EVAH EVAH EVAH wear a velour tracksuit, hell, if I even use the phrase "tracksuit" in conversation or to describe any kind of workout apparel, please shoot me.

Nanny Bastards!
I thought this was a joke.
Alas.
Not a joke.
"Government pays for children to walk home from school."
America is screwed.

Culture Still Matters
VDH on his informal survey of culture:
He asks:
"...is civil society mostly moderate, predicated on the rule of law, and meritocratic — or is it characterized by self-indulgence, cynicism, and tribalism?"
"The answers to these questions do not hinge on race, money, or natural wealth, but they do involve culture and the way average people predictably live minute by minute. Again, these national habits and traditions accrued over centuries, and as much as politics or economics, they explain in part why Bonn is not Athens, and Zurich is not Naples, or for that matter why Cairo is unlike Tel Aviv or why Mexico City differs from Toronto."
And:
"There is one final funny thing about contemporary culture. What people say and do about it are two different things."
"We in the post-modern, politically correct West publicly pontificate that all cultures are just different and that to assume otherwise is pop generalization, but we privately assume that you would prefer your bank account to be in Frankfurt rather than Athens, or the tumor in your brain to be removed in London rather than Lisbon."
Indeed!

What the HELL is Happening in New York?
First, Mayor Bloomberg and his "small tushie" and the soft drinks! (Hat tip: "Bully Blogger" Kathy Shaidle).
Gay is not an insult.
Duh! We have to litigate that?
CSI: New York Obvious Edition
Well, I am so very glad that public servants are discussing such important legal issues in NY nowadays instead of doing important stuff, oh like cutting out dense red tape and getting that damned hole in the ground filled up and functional, finally.
And now this.
Haven't they heard of 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it'?
What do you think? I think it's an epic marketing FAIL.
I guess others think it's brilliant.
New York is not just losing soft drinks and an iconic brand-it's losing its collective mind.
