New Hampshire School Bans Students From Playing Tag
OH MAH GAWD!!!
Now, I'm sure there are at least a few real men in New Hampshire other than Mark Steyn (*waves*), but where are they and why aren't they telling these school officials to shove these idiotic rules up their wazoos?

These women can not have any more children because if they have a child outside of marriage they are considered 'bastards' by Jewish law and cannot marry Jews. They are illegitimate. For religious Jews, this is unthinkable territory.

The late Rabbi Ovadiah Yosef z"l, was a very innovative thinker when it came to "agunot" (chained women) and he made very liberal halachic rulings to support the agunot. Basically, where there is a will, there is a halachic way.

There is a worrying trend of militarization going on in America now.
Mark Steyn has recently called the National Park Service employees the armed paramilitary wing of the DNC (TRU DAT).
But it's all fun and games until someone tickets your daughters' Barbie jeep.

The Cure for "Hate Speech" Is More Free Speech, Better Speech and Smarter Speech (UPDATED)
I had to make a short post about the campaign that Stand With Us is going to run in Vancouver.
This is an effort that I can get behind.
I am not directly involved with Stand With Us or any other organization-ever-mostly because I would never be a member of any club that would have me as a member and I'm not sure if my affiliation with them would hurt or hinder the cause!
While I believe firmly that one cannot "fight" antisemitism, Stand With Us is taking the right approach with this campaign with respect to "hate speech".
The only cure for "hate speech" is by having more speech, a more free society, more free speech and offering people better, more sensible speech.
Civilized people will defer to civilized speech and ostracize the "hate" on their own.
Government need not police civilized people and their speech and thoughts. That, my friends, is called totalitarianism.
And by government, I of course mean government-any governing body that is made up of individual humans who collectively tend to think that they know better than you what you should think and say and how you should behave.
So as Mark Steyn would say: NUTS TO THAT.
Good for Stand With Us for putting their money where their mouth is.

Just heard from Meryle Kates, the Director of Stand With Us (Canada).
She is looking for a student intern-someone in second year university/college and up for one day a week doing social media, help with events, some office administration for Stand With Us.
The internship is unpaid, but the intern will receive an Emerson Fellowship, which includes a trip to Israel in August and LA in November for training conferences.
It's a great opportunity.

In other words, the less *actually* Jewish one is, the more likely it is that one will be obsessed by the Holocaust, and have a new kind of religion that Kathy Shaidle has termed "Holocaustianity".

So, gather round, my little pretties, and let me tell you what Tikkun Olam means.
"Tikkun Olam" literally translates from the Hebrew as 'repairing the world'.
That has a very biblical base to it.
It means that Jews, by living as Jews and showing the way via the Ten Commandments, and Ethical Monotheism, are a Light Unto the Nations and help heal the world by belief in the One Creator and in the Ten Commandments and by living by the 613 mitzvot.

When I started listening to the Rabbi's introduction, I was impressed. I thought-hey, he gets this free speech thing, and he is defending Pamela Gellar.
So, I fired off an e-mail to the Rabbi saying I was impressed.
UNFORTUNATELY, my fingers moved faster than my brain and my ears. I listened to the whole thing and found it really a silly, slovenly pean to his Muslim mentors in California. I also am on the record as saying that Rabbi Kaplan should have told the York Regional Police to shove the chaplaincy where the sun doesn't shine.
I may have said it a little nicer at the time-but not likely!
Anyway, I completely agree with David Solway and this is a great piece that scaramouche found.
I wish Jewish "leaders" and Rabbis would actually, you know LISTEN to Jews who have an opinion about current events-an opinion that differs from the squishy mainstream "pareve" flavour of the majority.
I won't hold my breath though.
So yes, kudos to Rabbi N. Daniel Korobkin for showing up and defending Pamela Gellar.
