Steyn: The Trumping of Party
A very good post from Mark Steyn, who notes:
"...as every functioning society understood until two generations ago, immigration has to benefit the people who are already here. Government owes a duty to its own citizens before those of the rest of the planet - no matter how cuddly and loveable they might be. The fact that it is necessary to state the obvious and that no "viable" "mainstream" candidate from either party is willing to state it is testament to how deformed contemporary western politics is. Trump may not be a "real" Republican or a "real" conservative, but most of his rivals are not "real" - period, as Carly Fiorina would say."
I am obviously interested in the American elections, but America is not my country, I just have a longstanding love affair with it, with the whole idea of America, the American dream, the whole thing. I love American ingenuity, patriotism, how everything is BIG, making it BIG-the works. I love American redemption stories, war stories, success stories. I love the idea. I love America's founding documents and founders. So it really has been, and continues to be personally heartbreaking to watch the decline.
But the one thing I wonder, while I watch the various Republicanweenies establishment people battle it out with Trump supporters on Twitter and on various media is really, how bad could he be as President? It's a serious question. Do these people actually think that Trump would be worse for America and the world than Hilary Clinton? Is Trump worse than Obama has been for America?
I think all of the know it all folks in the mainstream "conservative" media should be asked that question.
How would, how could Trump be worse for America than Obama or Hilary? Who would you trust more with a billion, or a trillion of your dollars? I don't have real skin in the game except where America's relationship with Israel is concerned, but I'd be very curious to hear the answer to those questions. How could he be worse?

Security Threats Are the New Shut Up
I usually say that "security is the new shut up", more here and here.
It's the way that mealy mouthed administrators on university and college campuses, and venue-owners and local police become the compliant, tyrannical Free Speech Mutawa of the Western world, and shut down lectures and speeches by various 'politically incorrect' (read: non-leftist) speakers.
Apparently though, we've moved a little beyond "security is the new shut up" to "bomb threats are the new shut up".
Hard to keep up with how the Shut Up morphs!
Imitation may be the most sincere form of flattery (yeah, whatever, not so sure about that, we used to call that "copying" when I was a kid, or "plagiarism", but whatevs, right...), but apparently, bomb threats are the greatest compliment of all, and the newest shut up.
"But bomb threats have become commonplace to those of us who are critics of the intersectional third-wave feminist hierarchy. Despite being branded violent misogynistic manbaby shitlords, it’s only ever us who get our events disrupted by furious harpies panicking that someone might tell the empress she’s wearing no clothes. "Honestly, though, bomb threats are a blast because they show how utterly the other side has lost the argument. All that’s left for them is violence. If you control the flow of information, and the language, and the physical space where debate ought to happen, but doesn't, then you control the narrative and the argument and therefore, in time, the prevailing public opinion.
I think these episodes prove Mark Steyn's Rule of Politicians (which could just as equally be applied to university administrators): you cannot expect them to do the right thing. You have to make it consistently and unrelentingly difficult, if not bloody well impossible for them to do the wrong thing.
It has to be very painful to do the wrong thing.
There have to be excruciating consequences for doing the wrong thing.
That's the only strategy that will keep any sort of equilibrium between us and the dark forces of the Shut Up, and I don't say 'victory' firstly because they never rest and secondly because we have so very much catching up to do.

Please Remind Me Exactly Why Sweden Needs Eritrean Refugees

But, to demonstrate how truly and royally f&cked up the Swedes are, how very determined they are to commit suicide via immigration, and how utterly morally inverse their police force is, one must-simply must-take a gander at this piece from the BBC.
In a normal democratic society that wishes to remain democratic, after a stabbing by African asylum-seekers, policy-makers might question their immigration policies. One might even think that security forces would take extra measures to protect citizens.

"I Don't Know If I'm Pro-Choice Anymore"
This is a pretty haunting essay.
It's an essay full of words, but the words evoke in my mind a very acute mental picture. It's the coin dropping. Through the lines I can feel the mind changing.
I haven't read anything by this author previously, but I can really feel the self-doubt and horror emanating through the words.
I don't know how anyone could be "pro-choice" after those videos. (Even before, frankly.) And the whole language 'pro-choice' is so deceptive anyway, as is the 'incest-rape' thing. If you're pro-life then you are pro-life even when 'incest-rape'. I also don't know how a vociferously pro-life person could be married to a 'pro-choice' person. That seems to me to be a pretty unbridgeable gap.

In the case of online harassment, that instinctive preference for “free speech” may already be shaping the kinds of discussions we have, possibly by discouraging the participation of women, racial and sexual minorities, and anyone else likely to be singled out for ad-hominem abuse. Some kinds of free speech really can be harmful, and people who want to defend it anyway should be willing to say so.
And Professor Reynolds has the right prescription for this soft totalitarianism:

To which I would add, that conservatives must do as Mark Steyn says: not expect politicians to 'do the right thing', but rather, consistently and relentlessly make it difficult, if not bloody impossible for them to do the wrong thing.

Very Disturbing on So Many Levels, From Vanity Fair: Charlie Hedbo's Money and How It's Dividing France

I think that those who have lived through terrorist attacks, or lost family members in terrorist attacks each have their own unique way of "living" after. It's a different kind of living, a different kind of life.
This man is very, very brave. And I think the article really identifies so many of the big issues. It's very well done.

And this is a chilling, accurate and concise summary of where we are at, and obviously why he can go on, living each day in the wake of such horror.
“We cannot go back to the Middle Ages. You don’t kill people because they make cartoons and laugh. It’s crazy. Islamic State wants to destroy everything, lead us to nothingness. If they have their way we’ll have to go into museums—the Met, the MoMA—and destroy the Picassos, repaint every canvas. We are at war. I wake up saying to myself, We are at war—an underhand war."
We certainly are at war.

I'm finding it puzzling how Donald Trump is causing the vapors among Americans. I mean, for real and not for joking, they are needing super-sized fainting couches and weeping schmattahs about The Donald.
The way I see it is that the current batch of Republican "leaders" are no longer conservative, and have all chosen to live in the gonad-free zone known as Washington, D.C, living the Cartel Highlife (kudos to Ted Cruz for that line, it really is outstanding-and I remain a Cruz Jooooz).
They are all sucky over-conciliatory eunuchs. The only people with stones, as far as I can see are Trump, Cruz and Carly.
Trump has made enough money that he couldn't give a single shit about what anyone says about him. That's America, baby. Cruz is a principled conservative who has the right moral principles and intelligence to lead America out of its current decline, and Carly is a bloody firecracker who also knows about politics, business and she certainly channels Reagan and Thatcher.
Trump could not in any way, shape or form be worse than Obama. But the current Republican leadership in America might as well have Obama kneepads for all the sucking up and sucking off of this administration that they partake in, day in and day out. You better believe Trump will not be doing any "blowjobby" (thanks, Kathy Draidlebaum for that term) shenanigans.
As for Megyn Kelly and the sexist comments ooooooooh dear so sleeeeeepppy now zzzzzzz......
Here's the bottom line: you cannot sit at the big boys' table and then try to pull The Estrogen Card.
Apparently, statistically (think I saw this on Rush Limbaugh's web site, I have to double check), most of the airtime on the Fox News debate went to....wait for it...the Fox News Hostess With the Mostess Estrogen.
So, if you want that spotlight on your Fox(y) Face, you better be in the make-up room with Teflon being applied shortly after your foundation.

I believe he is the only commentator thus far to rightly say "so what", to the argument that any percentage of non-crunchy, well-baked baby murder is alright.

"It was also intended to help the kids consider whether telling the tale from the wolf’s point of view would change the moral of the story, officials said."
These "officials" should have their asses whooped.

Obama Court Eunuch Jeffrey Goldberg Interviews John Kerry And the Results Are Horrifying
Goldberg values his Court Jew status too much to really make any kind of sensible, bold statement about how his BFFs are treating Israel i.e enabling genocidal Iranian Shia anhiliation.
However, given his access to the most antisemitic administration in American history, one should read this interview very carefully.
I imagine Binyamin Netanyahu has already read it, and boy would I like to be a fly on the wall in that situation room. And by "would I like to be there", I mean like, give away my first-born child level of want, if you know what I mean?!?
So, here's what we are dealing with:

Kerry: I think they have a fundamental ideological confrontation with Israel at this particular moment. Whether or not that translates into active steps to, quote, “Wipe it,” you know...

Kerry: I don’t know the answer to that. I haven’t seen anything that says to me—they’ve got 80,000 rockets in Hezbollah pointed at Israel, and any number of choices could have been made. They didn’t make the bomb when they had enough material for 10 to 12. They’ve signed on to an agreement where they say they’ll never try and make one and we have a mechanism in place where we can prove that. So I don’t want to get locked into that debate. I think it’s a waste of time here.

Heaven Help Us

The 13 Things Mentally Strong People Don't Do
I saw this mentioned by Rush Limbaugh, and thought Rush's thoughts were excellent as well as the original article he cited.
Not to brag, but it sounds pretty much like a laundry list of the advice I live by, and that I give to others. Very sensible stuff, so I won't be buying the book. This is exactly the kind of common sense whooping I give to people who ask for my advice.
It does make me wonder if there is really a healthy market for such books. I guess not everyone has a friend that they can talk to, or relative that can give them such a healthy dose of common sense.
Like I always say-"common sense", NOT SO COMMON.
I think one of the main things is definitely not to live in the past. The most miserable people I know are always re-hashing their past wounds. It's unproductive and really boring and prevents living a really good and full life in the present and future. That's because nobody can change what they did in the past, or how they responded. Being angry or resentful about the past keeps people trapped in a vicious grievance theatre kabuki loop. It's so awful, and simply excruciating to listen to-sometimes you have to, because you're trapped.
I would also say that forgiveness is a very important part of living a good, "mentally strong" life. When you forgive, you don't forget the past pain entirely, you just don't let it dictate your present or future behaviour. Forgiveness is liberating. It does not mean that an event didn't hurt, and it did not mean that you should trust a person who hurt you. It means that you are the master of your own feelings, and you are not shackled to the past.
(There are exceptions of course. I am not talking about violence and murder. I am referring primarily to the emotional and psychological rendered by "friends", family and colleagues unto one another.)
Tomorrow is a new day, and we still have the rest of today. The past has been put to bed and that's where it should stay.
