Thank you!
Great article and completely true.
Hat tip: Jon Kay
I hate traveling on the TTC. The rudeness usually starts with the ticket booth people. Ugh.
Then, pretty much every single day there are delays, train breakdowns and "signal" problems. Then, you can find yourself sitting in the middle of two stations for 5, 10 or 15 minutes at a time without any indication of when you might be moving again.
Yesterday, I got on one of the new fancy trains and it was about 40C. The air conditioning was not flipped on. Hello-it's JULY, the air conditioning really should be on and working.
The Bloor trains are usually the older, smelly ones and they are usually pretty dirty.
Then, there are the smelly homeless people (we used to call these 'bums') that fall asleep on trains and nobody bothers to move them. Then there are the crazy people. I have stopped telling the booth people about the crazy people because they couldn't care less!
Then, there was the time where I saw a piece of feces at the escalator at Spadina station.
Shall I go on?
Toronto has a very primitive subway system that does not meet the need or demands of commuters.
Oh, and by the way-why do TTC employees get free parking at commuter lots?
If the TTC is so strapped for cash, why not cancel that perk? I don't know anyone who gets free parking at work. Maybe that could help the bottom line?
Really, it sucks.
