Those that divide people into two groups, and those that do not!
But seriously, do you divide history into two parts?
If you were a history teacher, what would you suggest as as the year, or date that divides history? Is there such a thing?
Here's a piece from NPR discussing that topic.
Normally, I don't link to NPR, but when I saw 9/11 being discussed in terms of "history" it really made me think. For me, 9/11 is still a living, breathing episode. I think it changed a lot of people in an unprecedented way. I've lost count of the number of people who have said to me that 9/11 changed everything for them-forever.
So is 9/11 history? Can it ever be history? Should it ever be history?
I don't think so.
