One of the Best Damned Pieces of Advice I've Ever Read

Advice columnists are a spotty bunch, but I have to tell you, David Eddie from The Globe and Mail is a great writer and I think he gives very good advice.

He's moderate and honest, with a touch of self-deprecation-all necessary ingredients, I think for a good agony aunt/uncle.

He usually defers to forgiveness and letting go of anger-all good things.

Anyway, when I read this piece of his over the weekend I just about died laughing, and it's seriously one of the best anecdotes I've read in a very long time.

I am TOTALLY STEALING IT BECAUSE I LOVE IT.

His advice to someone who has a friend who is always, annoyingly bragging about her kids is very simple, and basically boils down to:

"Just grin and bear it"

But this anecdote is such a gem, it really needs some kind of freaking award or prize.

Am I ever  glad I saw it, because like I said, I'm going to totally liberate steal it from now on.

"I’d apply what my friends and I call the Proctologist’s Code to this one."
"It’s from an actual quote a proctologist once said to a friend of mine at a party: “When I come across an inflamed area, I find it doesn’t pay to probe too deeply.”

SAGE WISDOM.

SERIOUSLY IN LOVE WITH THAT.

If more people would only follow the Proctologist's Code, they would be much happier in life.
