The minute people are afraid to tell a joke, is the precise minute that an allegedly free society begins to decline and unravel. People who keep joking and keep laughing and keep mocking are part of the liberty revolution.
Nothing is sacred.
Some background.
Due to his alleged intimacy issues (ahem)....Mr. Ghomeshi recently hired a very sharp criminal lawyer.
She was the emcee at a big, fancy lawyer shindig and was wickedly funny:
“As criminal lawyers, we represent people who have committed heinous acts,” she said on Oct. 29.
“As criminal lawyers, we represent people who have committed heinous acts,” she said on Oct. 29.
“Acts of violence. Acts of depravity. Acts of cruelty.
“Or, as Jian Ghomeshi likes to call it, foreplay.”
Thus, as Christie Blatchford says, and I agree with her completely:
"The world I want to live in is a world where nothing is, and where anyone who can write jokes like that can make them — not just girls."

Thus, as Christie Blatchford says, and I agree with her completely:

However, I must make two points here.
First of all, Blatchford is correct about the double standard.
If a man were to have made that joke he would be professionally and socially crucified.
Also, I wonder if Ms. Blatchford has had an evolution of sorts on the free speech issue.
During Ezra Levant's blasphemy trial she wanted him to be a little bit kinder.
At the time, I felt that was remarkably poor judgement.
So I wonder if there has been an intellectual evolution of sorts, or if this Marie Henein is just a better, more politically correct, socially acceptable 'poster person' for free speech?
