Today is Canada Day, and a very good time indeed to reflect on how lucky I am to have been born here and how grateful I am that my grandparents were granted safe haven here from Poland as European Jewry became enveloped by a bloody curtain of murder and death.
My parents were both lucky to be born here, too.
It's glorious to live in a democracy. And though Judeo-Christian values are under assault here all the time, we still have a tremendously free life here and it's worth fighting for.
So thanks, Canada, and Happy Birthday!
