IRS "Refunded" $4 Billion to Identity Thieves in Lithuania, Romania, and Certain US States

Umm. I don't think we can call it a "refund".

It's just FUNDING crooks.

"The Internal Revenue Service issued $4 billion in fraudulent tax refunds last year to people using stolen identities, with some of the money going to addresses in Bulgaria, Lithuania and Ireland, according to a Treasury report released Thursday."

"The IRS sent a total of 655 tax refunds to a single address in Lithuania, and 343 refunds went to a lone address in Shanghai."

That's pretty astonishing in terms of incompetence.

You would think that the IRS might have a system to flag, let's say MORE THAN ONE return going to the very same address.

More than a dozen? WRONG.

More than a hundred? NOPE.

Almost a thousand and in a foreign country? NOPE.

No red flags at all. Not an automatic red flag nor one generated by a real human being on the payroll of the American taxpayer.

"In the U.S., more fraudulent returns went to Miami than any other city. Other top destinations were Chicago, Detroit, Atlanta and Houston."

Americans, aren't you delighted that the IRS is handling your money in such a responsible fashion.

The even better news is that these same federal dumbasses will now be in control of your healthcare.

Congratulations!
