This is a very well thought out essay.
The question on my mind though is whether or not there is enough will in America now to make the kind of changes that Professor Reynolds suggests.
I'm rather pessimistic about this at the moment.
I think that America has veered philosophically toward socialism in ways that are almost irreversible, and that in Barack Obama-Americans are experiencing and not opposing a very comfortable romance with a totalitarian and imperial-style president.
