Sweden: A Small Synagogue Still Stands

Sometimes, humans succumb to foolish pride.

I disagree with this writer that Swedish Jews should have a sense of pride about the synagogue.

The foolish pride speaks thus:

"Every single Shacharit I look around the room and I see hope, and I see defiance. We are all shards of glass, scattered in the diaspora. As the benches we sit on, the pillars and walls surrounding us, we too exist in spite of everything. "

"Still alive."

"Still here."

"Still Jews."

Europe is a Jewish graveyard.

Swedish is a loathsome and dangerous place to try and eke out a Jewish existence.

Sweden is unsafe and unfit and undeserving of Jews.
